The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.

This is a really impressive monument set along the Thames, at one end of Westminster Bridge. The detail in the bronze plaques which depict London scenes during the bombings is amazing. The faces capture so many emotions.

On the Victoria Embankment overlooking the River Thames, this is a fitting tribute to all those who took part in The Battle of Britain.

The memorial is very thought provoking and poignant as you read the list of names of the airmen who lost their lives and the detail in the sculpture is amazing.

Please don’t just walk by. Spare a few minutes of your time to honour those brave men who died for their country.

What a piece of art! Just magnificent. This memorial is dedicated to the WWII heroes of Britain and what makes this memorial special is the level of detail that has been captured by the artists. Situated on the bank of Thames, alongside the Embankment, it is not very easy to spot if you are not looking for it. But when you do, you could be easily moved my the expressions on the soldier's faces, the anguish, anger and fear. Please make sure you donate as there is no funds to maintain and preserve this amazing piece of art.

Quite a beautiful monument to the WW2 British soldiers. It is big on both sides and located on a charming place, just in the eyesight of The Eye...

This is a powerful and evocative memorial. I hope readers will make sure that younger generations see it, ask questions and begin to understand the incalculable debt we all owe to those who gave so much so that we can live.

Found this by accident. Life size pilots scrambling to planes. Right on the river not far from Embankment tube station.

Since this has been the first time to visit London since the memorial was opened, I had to go and see it, I was surprised it was in such a normal place, I would think a memorial of this importance should be in a place more befitting, not just on a street.
That being said, it's very impressive and it's obvious a lot of dedication and heart have gone into its construction.

Thank you for your review. We wanted a low monument so people could get up close and see and feel the different friezes. This was the best available option in London at the time.
