Neighbourhood: Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighbourhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.

- pattiloops82 contributionsOutstanding talent, great atmosphereMy adult children and myself went to the Jazz club for dinner and Tom hear the Ronny Scott Jazz Band. The music and caliber of the band and the guest singer was top notch! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, the meal and drinks were great as well, highly recommend!Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 17 September 2023

- Martin LLytham St Anne's, United Kingdom214 contributionsLovely atmosphereIt was a one-off opportunity to visit a venue we have wanted to visit over many years. The act on the night was not particularly our taste but the venue, ambience and service were very good. And not expensive like the theatres around. Meals looked good although we didn’t dine there. The drinks, a little more than usual, but you get table service, free iced water all night and taking entry price into account, it makes a reasonably priced evening. Very glad we went just wish we’d been able to pick another evening. Heyho.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 October 2023
- PinchOnTheGo100 contributionsGreat time!First time here, had a great time. We saw Joplin Parnell, piano, and Giacomo Smith, clarinet, at the upstairs venue. They made a great duo. They are part of the Kansas Smitty’s crew. They were awesome. It looks like there are several great shows coming up at Ronnie Scott's. If I lived in London I would be here a lot! The Gin at 6 martinis were very good. Also, a few doors down, we ate at the Delhi Brasserie, which I would also recommend. The chutney was especially delicious and service very good. The two together made for a great night out.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 30 October 2023
- VLC4 contributionsWHAT A NIGHT! 🎉What a night! I knew we were going to have a great time because we were going to see the one and only Macy Gray! (who was amazing as always) But what we didn’t expect was just how truly wonderful the team at Ronnie Scott’s would be! Massive shout out to Jackie, Manuela, Ethan Freddy and of course Sally, and also the rest of the team whose names we didn’t get. My first visit to Ronnie Scott’s, but certainly won’t be my last! Thank you for a truly memorable night! Vusi ❤️🎶🎤Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 4 November 2023

Staff all very attentive although rushed off their feet, perhaps pre ordering food choices at the time of booking would make it easier for all staff especially in the kitchen ? Anyway we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Top marks to Lui in the booking office & to Britt who looked after us when we had an issue with a starter dish. Very professional & understanding.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 December 2023
- Mark R46 contributionsRonnie Scotts tipsRonnies is a members club with first class entertainment , however it isnt a walk up place for admission. Ronnies is so busy that prior booking is essential no matter which sitting you choose. You could chance your arm and try your luck? But the lovely ladies in the booking office can advise, saves time. The staff are welcoming and are happy to help with mobility issues , they have an access ramp. However , unless i am mistaken the toilet is downstairs with no lift. Not sure on disability access for you guys, sorry Upstairs at ronnies allows members and 3 guests to jump the queue this might explain what others get in.. to be fair its a great evening full of dancing Admission into Ronnies main even also has a queuing system . As you look at ronnies, members on the left non members to the right. This will save you SO much time when standing outside in the non members queue. Have a great night , hope this helps ?Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 December 2023

- GrahamSt. Neots, United Kingdom103 contributionsThe best music venueWe have been to Ronnie Scott's on a number of occasions, most recently to see the outstanding Ruby Turner. The venue is small and intimate, the service is always great, from being greeted and shown to your table, to the table service for drinks. There's a pretty good view of the stage from wherever you sit but priority seating is worth the extra cost if you can get them. Highly recommend.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 January 2024

My boyfriend and I came to see The Fat Back Band on 1st Jan. They were amazing, and what a venue to see them in. Everyone was up dancing, having a great time! Perfect place to see a live act. I would come back again. However, we missed the started of their set, because the website advertised the band start at 23:15, we arrived at 22:30. Unlike a lot of people who get to enjoy the festive period, I was working nights on New Years Eve, so this was my New Years Eve. When we arrived we were told the set had already started. We said to the welcome host the website says 23:30 set starts. To which he responded ‘our website does this’. Perhaps worth while making sure the information on your website is correct as the couple sat next to us missed the start too for the same reason. You provide conflicting information on your website to what is stated in your emails. If you know this is a problem it can’t be difficult to fix. The website and confirmation emails also state the bar is open until 3am. Once the band finished at 23:40 we were told to drink up and pay. We had a great time, but our night was cut short because the information provided on your emails and website is incorrect. I would recommend the venue and would come back for the right band but I would make sure I arrive in plenty of time because it’s a lot of money to pay for misleading info and feeling disappointed.

Attended Ronnie Scott's last night as a group of 10 for a family members birthday and all 10 of us were disappointed.
Even if you enjoy live music there are much better places to go.
Ronnie Scott's is overpriced, you pay just to book a table, the food is overpriced and mediocre at best and god forbid if you talk, you will be told off by a member of staff, surely people can listen to music and talk quietly at the same time.
Better suited to tables of 2 or 4 where people don't actually want to make conversation and they certainly should accept group bookings if they don't want people to enjoy their evening.
Of the 10 of us that attended none of us will be returning!

We’ve been to Ronnie Scott’s before and when we visited London recently, we saw someone was playing who we were interested in so along we went.
We purchased tickets in advance for the ‘early’ show one Tuesday evening. There are different seating areas and we had cabaret seating (there are cheaper seats). It’s a small venue so you’ll have a good view anywhere. We also ate there (but you don’t have to).
The venue is iconic. Just a black street frontage but anyone who was anyone in music has been there. Staff at entrance and serving were excellent. Friendly and professional. The venue itself I’d great inside. Subtle lighting, all red and candles. Just a great night out.
When we went , the band were terrific - they don’t book anybody bad at Ronnie’s!
If you’re dining, get there for doors open so you have time for food before the main act.
We had a fabulous and very ‘London’ evening. But .. don’t forget your wallet. Tickets, food and drink are expensive (even for London) but that said, you won’t feel shortchanged and you will be talking about your evening for days afterwards.

This was my first time in Ronnie Scott's and unfortunately I had booked a "premium table" for two for £115 (not including food or drinks). Don't be fooled by the website: the management have cynically packed an unfeasible number of tables and benches into a very small space. I've been to many live music venues but this was utterly ridiculous. I was told there were 220 people crammed into a room of perhaps 700 sq ft. We left in disgust having been promised a refund, which was subsequently denied. I hope this review starves the club of marginal revenue equivalent to at least £115.

I confronted the staff about the presumptuous tip. The menu says 9.75 but get charged £12 +. Confronted staff about how I don’t want to tip them for doing their job, it’s their job. You don’t tip a postman for doing his job every time he deliveries a letter. So makes no difference when you go into a bar for him to violate you instead of just adding the overall price to the menu which I also confronted him about. So watch out if you aren’t from London.. watch out tourist be aware of get your wallet pick pocketed in front of your eyes

I’ve lived in London for 15 years and always wanted to get to a gig at Ronnie Scott’s; the venue is obviously iconic - and such a wealth of talent that is attracted to play there. We saw Ruby Turner (amazing!!), plus the supporting act was super talented. It’s a must-do for any London visit, such a wonderful place to enjoy music and relax with good food. Only downside is the bathrooms are small and get a little crowded

We saw Booker T. Jones in a sold out show. The venue is classic, with tiered seating that faces the stage and little table lamps. After reading other reviews I thought it would be too crowded and everyone would be on top of one another, but even with a sold out crowd it didn't feel cramped. The sound system was great; so often in musical venues it's either too loud or too muddled, and this was perfect. Waitstaff were busy but attentive. If you want to eat their late night bar food menu was adequate. After Booker T's terrific show, a terrific jazz band played until about 3 am. It is funny to hear British accents from jazz musicians when you expect a Cajun accent. A memorable evening at a fun venue. Get your tickets well in advance or risk being disappointed!

Frith Street is becoming back to life with lots of tables outside along much of its length. Still sad to gaze up at RS’s doors and the performers’ posters but nothing bookable yet. However the continuing first rate live-streaming is the best we can hope for until the lockdown is relaxed further.
This weekend Mark Havana and the Banger Factory as well as kansas Smitty’s House Band on impressive 4 camera HD.
This part of Soho is making every effort to bring back music food and carousing to the heart of London.

Even non-jazz fans know this is as UK's top jazz club but how many know it is great for drinks and not so bad for food? You are politely asked to keep quiet while the musicians are playing (quite rightly) but that does not stop you enjoying a meal and drinks. The food is satisfactory, not terrific but then this is not primarily a restaurant, and it is, for what you get a tad expensive. But the cocktails - so many to choose from and so good. Beer drinkers might be disappointed with the choice of just lager. The house wine is excellent. The service is quick and friendly.

Having been to Ronnie Scott's many times over the years and had a great experience, this time, however, was VERY disappointing.
After queueing for 45 minutes after the doors opened at 5.30 we were shown to our seats and ordered an overpriced bottle of house wine at £38. We were just settling in when were told to move as they had made a mistake on seating us. Robben Ford (the only act of the night) came on stage at 6.30 and after only 75 minutes of music, he had finished his set and left the stage. Then the announcement came that it was time for us to leave too. We were given our bill (which included a compulsory service charge) and made to feel that we had to finish up our drinks and leave immediately. Things have obviously changed at Ronnie Scott's and not for the better, as in the past the gigs were longer and less rushed.
We won't be visiting again and would no longer recommend this venue as we feel it's become a tourist rip off.

My husband and I have tickets to a sold-out show on a Saturday evening (8:30pm). What time would you recommend we arrive so that we don’t have to queue for too long? We’re not planning to eat at the venue but would like to be in early to get a good seat. Thanks!!
Written 20 August 2023
If you've booked seating, you shouldn't have to queue at all. We went to an 8:30 show recently and went in with no issue. The queues tend to form following the main performer, waiting for the late set to come on. Enjoy! Save your seat for the late show!

We have a friend celebrating his 90th birthday in June. A group of us want to club together and treat him and his wife to an evening out at Ronnioe Scott's, including champagne and VIP treatment for the evening. Is it possible to purchase a voucher which allows them to book the date of their visit and the show they would like to see.... paid for in advance by their friends. We would present him with this voucher along with his card on his birthday. Can you help?
