Since 1663 the Theatre Royal Drury Lane has provided entertainment for the masses and has been visited by every monarch since the Restoration. The theatre has not one, but two, royal boxes and it was here that the public first heard both the National Anthem and Rule Britannia. Previous buildings were managed by the great actor David Garrick and the famous playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan and he current, fourth, building was opened in 1812.The theatre was renowned for its spectacular Victorian melodramas and pantomimes but since the 1920s its history has mirrored the development of the modern musical. From the original London productions of American musicals Rose Marie, The Desert Song and Show Boat, through Ivor Novello’s romantic operettas and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s groundbreaking post-war shows to The Producers and The Lord of the Rings. My Fair Lady held the record as the theatres longest run for many years but Cameron Mackintosh’s record breaking production of Miss Saigon, at ten years, is the current record holder.

Beautiful Theatre, my seats were great, lovely Champagne!! My problem - little furry mice running about .. my biggest phobia!!! 😱 I tried really hard to keep calm, watch the show but I was terrified they were going to climb up the back of the chair and get in my hair or run up my trouser legs. I kept wishing... More

We booked central seats a few rows back in the stalls so had a great view of the stage and all the action. We both loved the film versions and wanted to treat ourselves to the theatre version. We both loved the show and as with a lot of West End shows you see the effort had been put into... More

Show was amazing but the seats we had picked I think YYY right at the back of the stalls we all struggled to see. For some reason the last 3 rows at the back of the stalls are all on the same level so if you have someone tall in front of you (which we did) we really struggled to... More

We saw the penultimate showing of Charlie & Chocolate Factory. We were all disappointed in the show, not that this matters because the show has now finished! Our seats in the stalls under the dress circle had a good view. However, it was very warm under there. Plus, the seats are very low down and I found that quite uncomfortable.... More

We went here on New Year's Eve at 7.30pm. We were lucky enough to get a box. The theatre is beautiful, staff were very friendly. The show was amazing and the scenes and actors were brilliant. We loved every minute of it. I wouldn't hesitate to go to this theatre again to see a show.

Taking grandchildren to a Christmas treat we all came out having missed a lot of the production due to impossible seating structures. We paid a considerable amount for centre stall seats and due to any lack of banking it was impossible to see. This was true for both children and grandparents. We were assured that we would have an excellent... More

Truly the top experience of our time in London! Everything from the show itself to the gorgeous building made this an unforgettable night. We sat in the Grand Circle (F 25ish) and had a wonderful view, and the acoustics were great too. We happened to be there on the night of Roald Dahl's 100th birthday, which made the experience even...
