Very popular old pub with small bars but plenty of outside space. Check the price list before you order a drink. We asked for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc without looking at the list. We were given the most expensive and were not told there was a choice. The beer prices were as to be expected.

We visited here after shopping in Borough Market. My partner had been here before, I myself would never have found it as it is hidden away from the main drag. We stayed for a few drinks & shared the Pulled slider board which was very nice. I would like to visit the pub in the daytime (it was November &... More

Historic pub that ticks several boxes for those visiting. That it's the only galleried inn left in London makes it worth a visit. It's a pity the buildings on the other two sides of the courtyard are not more in keeping, but that's not the pub's fault. It is certainly an impressive building. I particularly like the Parliament Bar. It... More

The George is good rather than very good but that option is not available. Obviously, it is steeped in history and is a fantastic building. On this occasion we popped in for a quick early supper and managed to get the last table in the gallery . It was a very warm summer's evening and the courtyard was absolutely packed.... More

Steeped in history this Pub draws a crowd. You will be hard pressed to find a seat. I found it to be more or less the usual pub experience - history aside. My Beef & Ale pie was slightly burnt, but my companion's fish & chips, it was good. Cheers!

Although the server got one of the orders wrong (chicken burger instead of beef burger), the food was good and enjoyable. She also got the drinks served with ice when we specifically asked for no ice. Having said that, the pub was nto busy at all. Surprising as it is not far from London Bridge with lots of tourists and... More

We love this pub, having been taken there on an organised pub walk years ago. This was the first time we've eaten there. The food was OK. Not great, just OK. The chips are amazing though!

This is traditional English Pub food - Fish and Chips done right, Bangers and Mash, etc. So many Pubs have frozen pre made packaged food now. Nice courtyard seating, order at bar, wait staff brings you food. Very casual, good lunch location. Near The SHARD and London Bridge - worth going out of your way to eat here.

A must for the beautiful courtyard and the inside of the old inn. Have a beer and breath past history. If it is a sunny day is great to sit outdoor but is the cosy wood interior that stands out Can sit there everyday

Having visited lots of National Trust Properties, this was one of the more unusual!Visited to see the building and reminisce from my husbands point of view, he was a student at the very near by Guys medical school, a year or two ago! A fascinating building with lots of historical significance, worth visiting from that point of view. Drinks are... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
