My 19 yr old son and I spent four days with Gary Weight covering D-Day from the days before the invasion to the closing of the Falaise Gap months later. It is hard to imagine a more knowledgeable guide. Gary presents information in a very easily understood format telling stories in a way that immerses you in the locations and events of 1944. Stories are brought to life with personal details from the individual men who were there. I cannot recommend him and his tours enough. You will not be disappointed. Thanks for a great few days Gary, my son and I will never forget you.

Dear Craig. Many thanks for your kind words and taking the time to write this review. Due to the huge impact the pandemic and Brexit has impacted it is truly wonderful to be out on the battlefields again. It was a pleasure to meet you both and so glad you enjoyed the tour. Best Wishes ~ Gary.

Four of us (older family group; no kids) spent four fantastic and full days with Gary. The first day was WWI focused at Vimy Ridge and then we spent three days in Normandy, with specific interests in both Canadian and American experiences.
Gary had such in-depth and intimate knowledge of the stories and peoples of these places. Each day was full of stories and connections that helped us to forge a deeper understanding of the history of these places.
We loved Gary's 'office' in the back of his car, as well as his beach sketches of the Normandy invasions. He really brought the history alive for us in a memorable way.
This was the trip of a lifetime for my Mom - and Gary really made it so. We cannot recommend him enough!!!!

We spent a day with Garry learning about the history of D-Day in Normandy. Garry did a wonderful job bringing both his deep knowledge of history and a treasure of historical documents, maps and pictures depicting the events on these beaches 75 years ago. He is one of the best prepared and most knowledgeable guides we have had the pleasure of spending time with. We spent a full day on the sites learning about the plans, the actual events and the individuals involved. He gave us a real feel for the importance of this location as well as the human tragegy suffered by so many. We had visitied the US military cemetery before our time with Garry and felt that it was well presented. However, Garry added so much depth that we were very happy that we had booked him.

This July we took a three day tour with Gary at Normandy. He is a fountain of knowledge and a story teller. He doesn't recite fact after fact, he weaves them into a story about what went on. We had a particular interest in the 101st Airborne Division and he took us to places that you don't find in guide books. We were so glad we followed his suggestion of spending a day on the British and Canadian landings. So often D-Day is told from an American perspective. We found that the British experience was even more interesting. Gary always picked us up on time, was extremely thoughtful, and considerate. We can not recommend him highly enough. In fact, we will plan another trip with him for next year. Insider tip: he is the only person I have found that can explain cricket to an American!

Had a brilliant tour with Gary. Covered a lot of ground in a few hours. Started at Pegasus Bridge and went to several other important landmarks. Gary went into great detail and it was especially interesting to hear about particular soldiers who, in most cases, were accidental heroes. Would highly recommend him as a guide.

From the time he picked us up to the end of the day Gary provided us with an in depth historical account of Omaha Beach and the surrounding area. He is a true student of history and has a very personal connection to the events and people that were a part of history. As others have stated, he supplements being there with pictures and diagrams. We were a family of 4 that included 2 college students and we were all equally interested in engaged. It was his personal stories and connections with the many participants that truly impacted us and made a lasting impression.

Gary did an amazing job bringing D-Day on Juno Beach and the subsequent battles to life for us. His knowledge is exceptional as he tailored our tour to where my husband’s father landed as well as many other courageous Canadian volunteers. He complemented the site visits with engaging stories and visual materials including maps, pictures of key players, letters and news clippings. We felt privileged to learn from Gary and better understand such a pivotal time in Canada and the world’s history.

This trip had been on my bucket list since 1998 after "Saving Private Ryan" and I wanted to do it and it be top shelf! Gary way exceeded my expectations for the 8 days that our group of four had with him. HIs passion is contagious. This tour is intense, emotional, and physical. Each day began at 9 am, a short lunch break, and ended at 6pm. I was thoroughly impressed with his knowledge and hung on his every word. Each day would have 6-7 destinations. At each stop we'd have class for 10 minutes from the rear hatch of his Benz van and then we'd walk the site with constant narration of what happened 75 years ago. In short, Gary makes it come alive....wish I had had instructors like this in school...I would have learned a lot more! Umbrella, lite jacket, and athletic shoes. I ate like a pig for those eight days fearing I would suffer a 10lb weight gain....only gained one pound...he walked it off of us!

Dear Paul Many thanks for your kind words and taking the time to write this review. Following the men from Normandy to the Ardennes illustrates superbly the contrasting nature of what these men endured. From the amphibious landings, fighting in the Normandy bocage, through the open landscapes of France and into the hills and woodland of the Ardennes where the Battle of the Bulge was so ferociously fought in the freezing temperatures and snow covered forests. I'm very glad you enjoyed the tour and best wishes for the future. Gary Weight

Gary is not just a terrific tour guide but also an excellent author ( Mettle and Pasture-The history of the second BN The Lincolnshire Regiment during WW II.). My family and I spent 4 amazing days touring the beaches in Normandy ( American, British and Canadian sector ) extending to St Lo , Villers-Bocage to Falaise Pocket. Gary knowledge of the D-Day Invasion to the Normandy Campaign is second to none.
He is extremely professional and he really enjoys what he is doing. Ample maps and photos( then and now) that helps you to follow the stories and history during the D-DAY invasion and Normandy Campaign.
This is my second tour with Gary and I highly recommend him for your Normandy tour and beyond.

My wife and I recently did a 2 tour with Gary of the American sector and had a great experience. As noted in the other reviews, Gary’s knowledge is both wide and deep and he takes you to both the famous sites as well as well as others that are not well known. I have read a ton of books about DDay (and seen all of the well know movies and TV series) and still learned a lot of new information. Also, my wife, who did not know a lot about DDay or have a lot of interest, really enjoyed the 2 days which was an added bonus! Gary was also very flexible and will take you wherever you want to go and spend as much or little time there as you want. For example, he took us to Pegasus Bridge after a last minute request by me and then dropped us off at the Caen train station.
