About
Lee Valley Golf Course is a real urban oasis in north London, a consistently well kept parkland course that takes full advantage of the River Lee and large lake water features in its layout. The 18 hole course is home to Leaside Golf Club, where members enjoy a combination of great value fees, all year round playability and some of the best fast running greens in London. The course also welcomes non members.Experienced players will find the narrow fairways and water hazards pretty challenging, whilst the short yardage is helpful for beginners and younger players.

This could be a really lovely course but I can honestly say that in the 25 years I have been playing golf, this golf course is in the worst condition I have ever seen.
There are some interesting holes set around a lake, but the greens and fairways are in very poor condition.
A real shame because we need these municipal courses to be well kept to encourage new and young golfers. This could and should be a great public amenity.

Gave this course a try this weekend and unfortunately have to say that it was quite dissappointing.

The course isn’t well looked after; the fairways are poorly kept, the tee boxes are in truly awful condition and the greens are below average.

This sounds a really brutal review but, honestly, it is such a shame because the course has the potential to be great! The layout is good and the course is quite a challenge with huge slopes leading up to the greens and some greens are two tier.

It is also very easy to get lost on this course as it isn’t signposted well at all. The fact that it also caters for footgolfers too is always a sign that a course isn’t all that. Footgolf shouldn’t be allowed on the same parameters as the golf course.

If this course had a revamp and some real care it would be a fantastic course so it is sad to see it in a poor state.

The local players on the course however were ultra friendly. We enjoyed the game as always but paying £22 for a course in such bad condition left a bitter taste.

A very scenic 18 hole golf course which for 9 holes circles a massive wildlife thriving lake, on one side follows the River Lea Canal. The course it kept in check and has helpful and kind staff that get to know you. The prices are very reasonable for what you are getting and I have also used their practise holes and its only £5 per hour which is very good and you don't get kicked off so stay on a little longer :) They have all the essentials and more in the golf/campsite shop including cheap balls, gloves, and loads more including chilled drinks and food for cheap prices. It was hidden from plain sight but to find it just go past and round the left of the cinema or go also on the left hand side of the huge athletics building

We played here on Saturday and the course was in, for the winter, very good condition. There were a few temporary tees (but no red temp tees) which didn't really detract from the overall state of the course. The greens were okay and very playable. For the money to play (£20 for 18) it really is good value and very enjoyable. There is talk about it closing, which would be a real shame for the area.

I live in central London and was delighted to find this attractive rural-seeming course in the middle of a surburban industrial area only a few miles from the City. It really is an oasis. The course is well-maintained and reasonably challenging. A good score is possible but the unforgiving rough has to be avoided with every shot!
The people in the pro shop were helpful and friendly and the green fees were very attractive. I was told that the course is threatened with closure due to plans for 'new development'. Given that the course is part of the wider Lee Valley Leisure complex that seems a very short term idea. I hope it is resisted - the course is a valuable asset for North London.

The course was not too crowded. The view was very beautiful with the birds enjoying themselves because it is a bird sanctuary.

The negative...
- Tee boxes aren't in great condition.
- Fairway grass is too long. Some of it feels like you are in light rough.
- Greens are in bad condition and are unrealistically slow.
- The clientele don't seem to care about repairing pitchmarks
- Bunkers are just not maintained properly.

The positive...
- Price is reasonable
- Some very tight and challenging holes for any level of player
- Superb course design
- No stuffy dress code
- Open to all

Summary...
I generally play at private clubs and if you are used to courses in very good condition you will be disappointed. However, this is a low priced, municipal course and expectations should be set accordingly. This is a fabulous facility for the beginner, high handicapper or anyone returning to the game after a long break. It's worth having a look if you're a better player, the challenging layout might just tempt you back. It has its place in the world... it's open, accessible, cheap and will attract non-golfers and beginners as well as more regular golfers. Despite the condition, I actually enjoyed my round and the challenge. I'll definitely be back as I have a son who has just taken up the game and for this it is perfect.
I couldn't help thinking that with just a bit more maintenance and management this course could be one of the best.... but then again, it wouldn't serve the community as it does today.

Started to get back into Golf a bit at the end of last year and ended up checking this place out due to the GREAT price, Its the only affordable place around here after the council disgracefully closed my local course down, in order to lease it off to a billionaire to build over (WhiteWebbs).

Lee valley is not the best kept, but not as bad as many make out! For the value, you cant complain at all!!!! I was more than happy with this find!

Tricky little track, very narrow at times which makes up for it being fairly short. It's not an easy course by any means.

There's a couple of really good holes that go around the edge of the water... i was surprised how nice some of the holes are!!

Not many facilities, but its not a country club.... nor is it pretending to be!!

I would defo recommend LV for people looking to get in to the game and also for people trying to rediscover their love of Golf.

I'm not a snob by any means and love a decent priced council course...... but would rather not see people wearing denim..... silly I know, but it winds me up!!

Other than that..... Its great!!!!
