Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The music of Horace Silver received a huge tribute here tonight, great sax by Vasilis Xenopoulos and Chris Biscoe to mention just a couple .... oh and Tom Millar on piano was great! And Martin Show and Nick Mills! All of them in fact .... a great venue, so go now

Thank you! The Way Out West evenings are always fantastic jazz events and the next one is a Stevie Wonder celebration!

POSK, the Polish centre in Hammersmith, has been in existence for half a century - set up as a cultural and social centre for earlier waves of migrants from Poland.
But it has blossomed into a centre in its own right, boasts a theatre and - down the stairs - an atmospheric jazz basement.
Friendly and sociable, it's well worth trying.

Way Out West band tonight was just wonderful, playing arrangements by leader and trombonist Nick Mills with songs drawn from Blue Note recordings by Art Blakey & Wayne Shorter amongst others. Liked the Mike Westbrook piece from 'Graffiti' too.

Chris Biscoe was tremendous on baritone sax - plus other saxes! And Kate Williams and Tom Millar on piano were superb ... not to mention amazing Robbie Robson and Steve Fishwick on trumpets .... in fact the whole band were on top form!

The acoustics are really great here, and the seating comfy and spacious - unlike some other sardine can clubs in town. And the bar charges normal pub prices.
We saw Torus here tonight, a terrific band organised by Mick Sexton bs and with Jonathan Gee pno and Tim Whitehead saxes, Trevor Taylor drums and guest Ralph Wyld vibraphone. They played modern jazz numbers by Keith Jarrett, Joe Henderson and Mike Mainieri etc - all excellent! The audience were appreciative and supportive, what more could you want in a jazz club?! Tickets were £10

Spent an evening with a friend at this venue. We ate at the cafe first. The staff were friendly (especially the doormen), and recommended some polish food I should try. It was very reasonable and really tasty. We then we went to see some amazing young musicians covering Joni Mitchell, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen songs. The ’only’ not so great thing I would say about this venue is it was cold inside - I had to wear my coat throughout the entire Gig. Besides that I would definitely visit again.

Hello, and thank you for the review...yes it was a great gig! We had a lot of people down and I had to keep the air con on, so we get a few cool spots in the room....sorry! Hope to see you again soon! Peter

This is one of my favourite Jazz dens in London. Jazz in London is supposed to happen at Ronnie's, Pizza Express and Camden. And they certainly get the big international names. But do come to this wonderful place for the old fashioned jazz club atmosphere where they will not try to sell you over priced food, you will hear fantastic music and pay very reasonable prices.
This is one of the regular joints of the Way Out West collective (another one is Barnes' Bull's Head) where some of London's finest jazz men and women play
No glitz here but great jazz for £10 at the door and beer at reasonable prices: that's the way a jazz club should be. And if you're hungry before the gig, there is a marvelous Polish restaurant upstairs!

Saturday night watching Mark Olbrich's Blues Eternity with star guest numbers by the insuperable Jimmy Thomas. Jimmy sang with Ike Turner before Tina and has toured with many of the greats. He was mentored by Albert King - a stunning pedigree in other words. His passionate rendition of Mannish Boy, a heartrending plea for respect and equality, more insistent and enraged with every chorus, will stay with me a long time. A vintage Jimmy Thomas at his best performance. Mark Olbrich's steady bass laid down the backbone of both sets and Igor Nowicki's high energy keyboards, Eddie Angel's lead guitar and Filippe Giangrande's drums wove a blend of traditional and more 'out there' blues in its broadest definitions. The Jazz Club has very good sound and is designed so that you have try really hard to find seats with a poor view. There is a bar along part of one wall at the back and the service is friendly and doesn't interfere with the show. A blues legend, good music, good sound, a happy and well-behaved crowd. A good night out.
