Considering this was erected for the millennium and was supposed to be a temporary structure, the London Eye has become not only a visitor attraction, but one of the global focal points for one of the world's best NYE firework displays

Don't allow a mobility scooter on the Eye. No secure facilities to park same next to access. The usual lack of thought when advertising that the Eye is accessible.

It's an interesting and nice experience but nothing extra-ordinary. I wouldn't say this is a must-do thing in London. But if you have extra time and extra money then go ahead and ride the London Eye.

Of course the viewing is amazing, but besides that everything is very bad. Huge lines to start, the capsule was smelling extremely bad and was VERY hot inside. The trip which was supposed to be very pleasant turned out being annoying. We couldn't stand being there anymore and wanted it to end asap. It's a shame.

Time was when you would wait hours to go on. These days you can pretty well turn up during the week and you are on within 20 minutes. Views are spectacular especially on a clear day and the staff are affable,

It's an experience that has to be done at least once in a lifetime but make sure you check the weather conditions to get the best view possible from the top

Had visited this attraction a few years ago also and loved it, this time I got to experience it at nightfall - about 6.30PM on a dark winter evening. Magical, the view of city all lit up is awesome and the queue was less than 10 mins long. Definitely recommend.

Great revolving unobstructed view of London. Lots of room in each eye. Takes about 30 minutes for one revolution. A bit unnerving for those who do not like heights. Well worth the price.

This may be one of the best sites in all of London if you can catch a sunny day. We happened to be in the area and decided last minute to ride the eye. Tickets are not that cheap but worth the view as long as the sky is clear. Once you get your ticket, you get into the pod... More

Staying in Southbank

Neighbourhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
