- Vanessa MLondon, United Kingdom190 contributionsquite the spectacle!Attended the opera at the London Coliseum on a rainy Saturday evening. The staff have the attendance and leaving processes well worked out. No queueing with easy access to our seat. It is worth researching your seat ahead of booking in some detail. we were unable to see half of the surtitles, but the staff did allow us to move at no extra cost. Spectacular design and a thoroughly enjoyable evening.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 1 December 2023
- Louise VLondon, United Kingdom179 contributionsBarber of seville, fun!I saw the final dress rehearsal for Barber of Seville, which was really funny.I had low expectations since I am used to the Roh and did not expect much.I was blown away by the standard of singing of the soloists especially the soprano and tenor in the main role. Her singing and acting ability was head and shoulders above everyone, she is truly talented. I felt terrible for the orchestra who were still needing to protest due to the situation they have been put in. Overall despite my dislike of productions being translated into English, I would recommend this hilarious production.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 18 February 2024

- liucy752Taipei, Taiwan1,667 contributionsGreat heritage buildingGreat building. It is a work of architect Frank Matcham (1854-1920) in 1904. Frank Matcham was also the architect of Glasgow King's Theater. The London Coliseum is a Grade II listed building of English Heritage. Unfortunately, we did not reserve tickets for the performance and were unable to enter the venue. Could only admire the gorgeous appearance. It is recommended that some spaces of the building be opened for visitors (of course by tickets) during non-performance hours. Such as the Palais Garnier (some spaces are available for tourists to visit), and the Hungarian State Opera House (visitors should participate in official guided tours).Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 April 2024
- Special K108 contributionsGreat experienceIt was my first time at London Colosseum and I went to see spirited away live and what a great experience. I basically went with my bf, along with his cousin and their mums. The security was great and I didn’t mind having my bag checked, the merch shop was great and I also got a top I was seated at the high up second row and I did have a fine view and the performers were amazing and they captured everything from the spirited away movie and I have to give a massive arigato to the performers. The theatre also had the eng subs playing on the wall which was perfect. Overall I completely recommend London Colosseum to anyone who fancy’s a day out at the theatre but if you high up on the balcony view I recommend taking binoculars which is what my bf did for me Solid 5/5Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 May 2024
- Chris B119 contributionsBrilliant ProductionSpirited Away was an amazing production with great acting, puppetry and music. It was non stop and I would recommend it to anyone. It was in Japanese but had English sub-titles. No problem. I have not enjoyed myself so much and will be returning to see it again in June.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 May 2024
- Paul C46 contributionsVery enjoyable. My wife, (who is Japanese ) went to see Spirited away at the London Coliseum and we enjoyed every bit of the show. Some people in reviews complained about uncomfortable seating in the balcony seats, but you get what pay for. We were in the centre of D row upper circle, and we had a reasonable view, like others around us. That was, until a “most ignorant” person on row A in line sight of my wife, decided that he was going to lean forward on the balcony edge, therefore blocking the site of the full stage. Many people ending up moving their head in different positions, to see parts of the play. So ignorant of this man, in which people directly behind him, must have felt uncomfortable in approaching him directly to complain. But there was no sign of a theatre attendant/staff nearby to ask if they would politely tell the person to sit back, not only to stop blocking peoples full view, but above all for safety reasons. What if he dropped something on the seating below? This was the only problem we experienced, on what was otherwise an absolutely brilliant show. The Coliseum theatre staff do a good job in security checks, but they need to address the fact of the audience leaning forward on the balcony edge. In most upgraded theatre’s nowadays they have a metal bar that prevents this sort of thing. London Coliseum needs to do the same.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 June 2024
- Joel B3 contributionsGood venueWas initially unsure as to where to go as the sign we followed did not lead us to the right place (Although the posted sign supposedly lead to the area we were supposed to be seated at). The usher had to turn us around once he checked our ticket. The audio was fabulous and I could hear everything crisp and clear and the view we got was good. Overall I would come back if there was a production that piqued my interest.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 June 2024

If you love the movie, you will be amazed by the effort to bring it to live show. All the decoration on stage, music and especially all the performers are superb, This is the most expensive tickets I have ever spent for a live show. But it really worth.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 July 2024

I am very disappointed after I booked two seats to see the Nutcracker on the 18/12/2021 for myself and a friend. This was booked on the 1st July 2021 and unfortunately, by the 9th September 2021, due to personal circumstances, I needed to cancel the tickets.
I contacted the box-office to be told that they do not do refunds, I assumed this was because it was passed the 14-day period, which I completely understood and so requested if they could give me a credit voucher instead. I was told that this also was not possible as they do not give refunds at all!
This was not clear to me, on their website and had it have been, I certainly would never have booked the tickets for this show with them. I am extremely disappointed in their "grab your cash" attitude and certainly will never be using this organisation for any shows in the future!

The most horrendous theatres experience I have ever had. Particular few members of staff are awful and when we complained that the seats we purchased at £75 with partially restricted views, we’re in fact un viewable at all for our little 6 & 7 year old girls unless they stood for the whole performance. Which is about 2.5 hours long ! We asked for booster seats, which apparently they aren’t allowed for some strange reason. I told the particular awful staff member this wasn’t good enough At the interval after having the most uncomfortable and totally not enjoyable 1st half of the show ruined the same staff member approached me to say she could move us but it would cost an extra £20 per seat. We were already leaving by that stage .
It was my daughters 7th birthday by the way which the staff knew and she didn’t care !!! We spent £300 for this awful experience . I apologise to the few staff that were lovely and also to the show itself which had we been able to enjoy, we would have . I will never visit this theatre again .

We went as a group to see Carmen by ENO and really enjoyed the opera, though very dark and haunting. Sitting in the upper circle we were unable to see very much, as visibility was poor and most of the action was at the front of the stage. In addition the seats have minimal legroom and you cannot stretch your legs at all, as the seat in front goes down to floor level. It was most uncomfortable. However, the theatre itself is very decorative and appealing.

We went to see The Nutcracker for my birthday, sat in the upper circle. The performance was amazing, and the theatre itself is beautiful with a lovely feel to it. Unfortunately, we had a woman and her child in front of us who refused to sit properly in their seats (e.g. sitting on very front edge of their seat, hoisting themselves out of their seat by leaning on the arm rests, and leaning very far forwards). This blocked mine and my boyfriend’s view of the stage, and also blocked the view of two ladies sat behind us. We politely asked the woman to sit properly and she refused, so we spoke to the theatre staff, who refused to help or intervene other than splitting us up and giving us separate seats. I find this quite surprising given how militant the policing of people on their phones is (and rightly so). A man also shouted very loudly at a girl sat in front of him in the middle of the show, which caused a large disturbance, but again there was no intervention from the staff who just stood and watched on. I found it quite odd!
I would come again, but next time I’d just pay more to sit at the front of the upper circle so that you don’t run the risk of being exposed to rude and selfish members of the public. It’s a shame to have to do so though, because the staff should intervene if people are causing such disturbances.

Three of us went to see The Nutcracker, a ballet which we haven’t seen for a few years. Wonderful dancing - such talent - and excellent choreography. We had a good view from the second row in the Upper Circle. We thought the scenery was a bit drab which tended to detract from the performance. Theatre staff were excellent.

We had a great visit for The Nutcracker on Christmas Eve. Tickets were ordered online and collected at Willcall with no problem. The theater staff was excellent in moving the crowds, bar service was excellent. The theater is a beautiful venue and adds to the experience. We had very inexpensive seats, so were at the very top. The top of the set was not visible, but we knew this. The acoustics were very good and we really enjoyed the orchestra and the entire performance. It was an excellent, professional production. It was a fantastic start to Christmas Eve.

We saw My Fair Lady last night, and had balcony seats. The view was pretty good, for bargain priced tickets. Depending on how much you want to pay for tickets, I would recommend considering other seating options, because there isn't enough leg room in the balcony seats. We still had a wonderful time just experiencing the thrill of attending. The theater is gorgeous and ornate. All staff were very friendly amd helpful. Acoustics were outstanding. We had a lovely night.

Having booked to see the show nearly two years ago and having seen it cancelled and rebooked three times because of the covid situation my wife and I finally went to the matinée performance on the 18th August.
Imagine our disappointment when Michael Ball was missing .
We appreciate that circumstances can require changes but no mention prior to the start of the performance , or within the programme or the theatres website .We only booked to see Michael, a great disappointment

The Coliseum is a truly beautiful theatre. We went to see My Fair Lady on this occasion, which is a very long show. A very good show, but very long. As a result, we found the seats became considerably uncomfortable the longer we sat. The staff on this occasion were incredibly rude. When we arrived the usher shouted at me to enlarge my phone image of my ticket (which I was in the process of finding my spectacles so that I could do this). He was so rude to my sister that she actually told him to change his tone! My elderly (79 year old) mother had a diabetic hypo during the interval and when we asked the staff for medical help, we got a 'sorry nothing we can do' reply and then he turned his back on us and went back to unloading his ice cream to the ice cream seller. Fortunately my mother has lived to tell this tale, but I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit this theatre unless they are in full health and able-bodied. Clearly their customer service is as archaic as the building!

Really sensational music that brings life to the ears and the dance was spectacular- a sight to see! The costumes flows so well with the dance.
I had seats at the balcony and although I am not expecting much, it was a very hard seat and very very petite size. Might be uncomfortable for some.

We had tickets in the Back row of the Balcony for Chess ( K48 & K49). Had a reasonsable view of stage. However, did loose front of stage where it had been extended out over orchestra pit. However. A lady kindly gave us seats in Upper Circle Centre. So cant say exact view from balcony for performance as moved. But screens on stage and the fact that front of stage rises at times helps. View from Row H Centre Upper Circle. Was good. Did loose a little view right at front of stage but was either covered by screens or was area that raised so could see. Either way it didnot effect our enjoyment of the show.

20 members of a community choir went to see Chess last night, the show was excellent. BEWARE though = my friend bought a small g& t and a small wine and was charged £17.50, upstairs I bought the same drinks for the interval and was charged £11.50. 5 other members of our group had 5 small glasses of wine and was charged £40. What is going on here? Is it a scam to con the tourists? Where is this extra money going?
Written 23 May 2018
These prices are excessive. I'm not sure it is a con unless the price lists show the published price to be different or the staff lied to you, but it does demonstrate the excessive costs of drinks in theatres and it is unfair. Had you bought both of your drink orders downstairs, you would have paid significantly more for your drinks than we paid for the two tickets for both my wife and I to see the performance. As with Enfield Peter, we tend to have a drink before we go. The timings of evening West End shows tend to be such that a nice meal with a bottle of wine can often be fitted in and costs about the same for a couple as two pairs of drinks at the theatre. The total cost for both of us to see Chess, have a pasta meal, bottle of wine and dessert at Bella Italia came in at just under £100, which is as it should be for a night out.

Can you advise which area would be best to sit in? I was looking at row B Dress circle as they are in our price range? thanks

That’s where we sat - great view and close enough. Try for centrally located seats.
Written 18 March 2018

Yes this is much too close For stalls you ideally need to be at least 5 rows back From rows closer than this your view wiill be restricted despite the rake in the stage floor and you will be uncomfortable looking up for an hour or more
