The pub its self is great the staff are friendly and respectable.
But the security well disgusting. One of the security whose name is obey is a bully. He treats people like s*it he’s rude he’s aggressive and he’s hand on for no reason just he’s attitude.
He pushes tables into u witch have glasses of drink on it where people are just covering their and others drinks and he looks at people like he wants to do them some harm. He ruins the pub I know a lot of people who attended the pub for the last 30 years who don’t anymore because of Obey’s behaviour and some are getting on in life and he’s just as aggressive with them. He even shouts abuse at people outside the pub and disgusting abuse. People are scared of him and don’t take it any further. Once they remove that terrible man the pub will be back to its full glory. I honestly think he’s should be arrested for the way he treats a lot of people like he’s god. He’s a narcissist and makes a lot of people’s experience in the pub not nice. As security he can’t even do he’s job. I’m surprised he’s employed if I was he’s employer he would be sacked. He causes more trouble at the pub than the visitors.
I have gathered a report on him over the last 2 months and I will be taken it further. He has hurt many visitors and has just carried on like he is untouchable.

I was taking party of 12 to a show at the Hackney Empire and, a couple of weeks before, went round the pubs near the theatre and thought the Globe in Morning Lane looked like the best bet for after show drinks. The landlords reserved a space without a deposit and later agreed to provide sandwiches and crisps and unsolicited added strawberries and macaroons.
We couldn't have had a warmer welcome when we arrived or better service. The bill came as shock because it was so low. I added 30% to it, which was the least I could do. The whole evening was beyond expectations in everyway.

Went with a few friends on Saturday night, there was live music it was smashing. Very friendly owners too!

I went to this place one Sunday lunchtime and listened to some great jazz and swing, played by a fantastic band. A classic east end pub of which there are very few left. Friendly staff and customers who made a stranger welcome, they even provide free bar snacks.

We went to Hackney for a family day out as we hadn't been there for several years.
After walking round and shopping for a few hours we decided to go into The Globe in Morning Lane as we were very close by.
The pub is well orientated and there is plenty of room and seating both within and outside for those sunnier days in old East End London.
The staff couldn't have been more welcoming or charming.
There are copious televisions within the interior for the sports enthusiast whilst the free music was a real treat as all tastes were catered for.
The cleanliness of the pub is obvious to the naked eye as are the washrooms.
As a family we stayed longer than we probably should have but this was entirely down to the local customers making us welcome and the bar staff.
We want to give a special mention to the barman - I think his name was Joe - as he was a good laugh and told a yarn or two. Sorry if I got your name wrong mate but you know who you are.
All in all we were so pleasantly surprised to find a traditional East End pub still flourishing in this part of town. This is obviously down to the hard working staff and management.

What a find! A nice east end pub that isn’t too cool to offer decent service and a friendly smile. I wandered in for a quick drink after a long day and ended up staying for a few. Genuinely a nice atmosphere and great bartenders. I’ll go back soon.

Our walking group arrived without notice to this great pub for lunch. We received the warmest welcome and they calmly moved the furniture to accommodate us all. No fuss in ordering and Jean prepared and served up our meals in a most reasonable time. The food was good, no frills pub grub, and I enjoyed the best vegeburger I have ever eaten. The rest of the party enjoyed a variety of dishes, which were all served hot and well-presented. If we walk their way again we will certainly know where to rest our legs in the knowledge that all will be fine and dandy. Many thanks to all.

If you are sick to your back teeth of sleep-inducing chain/themed pubs and pretentious gastros/wine bars, and long for that golden era of when pubs used to burst with character, atmosphere and individuality, then this is the place for you. Treat the place with respect, join in the fun and you will be made to feel welcome by staff and customers alike. I'm not a local to the area but I will now be frequenting in future as regularly as possible.
