The Yorkshire Grey has stood proud on the corner of Grays Inn Road and Theobald's Road since 1676. Located only 200 metres from Chancery Lane underground station, and it's only a bit further to Holborn, Farringdon, Russell Square and Kings Cross.

We are open for lunch and dinner during the week. We offer a tasty selection of dishes which include our freshly battered Fish and Chips, fantastic gourmet burgers, vegetarian options and much more. At lunch we have vast selection of hearty sandwiches and in the evening an array of tasty sharing boards and small bites.

If you are looking to hire a space why not host it in our upstairs Function Room. We cater to work meetings, networking events, social gatherings and special events like birthdays and weddings.

I booked the Function room for my girlfriend for her 30th birthday party. We had about 40-50 attendees and the venue was absolutely perfect for this. All the things that you worry about when organising someone else's party were taken care of with the minimum of fuss. There is an awesome and easy to use sound system which you can... More

The upstairs venue at the Yorkshire Grey is an ideal space for a social gathering. I recently held a birthday party here and it's the perfect size for around 40 people to comfortably fit. I ordered a spread of food and it was excellent quality and delicious. I chose this pub because of its reasonable minimum spend amount for hiring... More

The staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities (microphone, projector, aux cable for iPhone music, seats and tables) were perfect for our needs, and the food was nice. I would thoroughly recommend the Yorkshire Grey for anyone wishing to put on a similar function.

Rant: Don't automatically add a service charge and ask for proof of bad service to remove it. Take a look at tipping as discretionary. You can't invent tax! It's not law or legal what you are doing. Had I seen this and not my girlfriend you would get my viewpoint live. The good: was good service (should be regardless) good... More

Thank you for your comments. Why do we add service charge?? Im sure you understand as you quoted at the bottom of your review that London is Poor value for money - so we try to help our staff by putting a bit extra cash into their pay check each week, which they are extremely pleased about, helps them pay... We hired the upstairs room at The Yorkshire Grey for our engagement party and were so pleased we did. I spent a long time looking for a private room to hire in Central London on a Friday night without a vast minimum spend. Not an easy task. The Yorkshire Grey by far was the best in terms of location and... More

We booked their private room for a birthday celebration. The first floor room itself is great for 30/40 people and, being on a corner, has many windows. A member of the bar staff was on hand all evening and the food, chosen a couple of weeks beforehand, was excellent. There's no room rental, just a minimum spend which worked out... More

As a recently-engaged couple, we booked the ground floor bar on a Saturday night in February for engagement drinks with friends. Despite never having been here, we went with this pub due to its location and modest minimum bar spend (compared to similar pubs and bars). We were not disappointed. Having rented their DJ equipment, they had set it up... More

Rented out the top floor private room for a birthday party. Loads of space, good mix of seating area and space to dance. Stuff were really helpful and friendly, both leading up to she event and on the night. Ordered some sharing platters and all the food really was delicious. Lovely place would recommend, had a great evening!!

We wanted to have a lunch, to celebrate the life of my late mother-in-law. We needed a central London, intimate but flexible place and by chance found the YG. The room is lovely, airy and spacious but cosy. We had access in good time, to get the AV sorted etc. The staff were really great. The catering was excellent. What... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
