Fabulous, entertaining cooking experience. I highly recommend this!
We spent a fabulous Saturday with our son & daughter-in-law in the amazing company of Nikita of Spice Monkey. We had a home lesson and I can honestly say that we haven’t enjoyed ourselves so much in years! Nikita was such a good tutor & chef, nothing was too much bother for him. We immediately warmed to Nikita, he had just the right touch & instantly worked out the family vibe. The food was amazing, I have never tasted such delicious Black Dahl & Keralan fish curry (among many other amazing dishes that we cooked). I would highly recommend the experience. Cheers Nikita!

    Such good fun.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Nik has a gift of conveying information in a really excellent way. It never felt like a lesson, it was a really nice way of learning. I cannot remember enjoying being taught in such a professional way.

Book it - you won’t regret it
My husband and I attended the Taste of the Punjab course along with another 3 people on Saturday. First of all what a charismatic, knowledgeable and funny chef Nikita is. He started the day by giving us background information regarding different regions in India and we tasted a lot of different spices. We cooked a delicious butter chicken dish, 3 sides and a naan. We also learnt how to make a garlic/ginger paste which can be stored for future use and also made garam masala. Nik taught us how to build layers of flavours. All of the dishes were delicious as was the light lunch served to us. We had a great day and can’t wait to cook the dishes at home. We definitely want to return to do one of the other courses.

A great time spent, entertaining as well as informative, great food.
I went for the basic course which was excellent. Thank you for the introduction to spices and the differences in cuisine across India, something I will explore further. I always overthink the process and it was a revelation to see Indian cookery in action and to see what goes into a dish to make it different; how smoothly you can create the feel that you are eating (better than) restaurant food. The recipes, forwarded on, are a delight, I need to practise lots! Thank you Norman

Excellent course. Great fun and learnt so much.
I was on the Punjab course. Nikita is an excellent teacher, very organised and a great sense of humour. He shared his incredible knowledge of spices and food through tasting, discussing and questions and we cooked the 5 dishes together, in 2 groups of 3. I really enjoyed this course and would highly recommend it. Good luck in your new premises Nikita and thanks for a great day.

    Excellent tuition, fantastic day.
My wife and I were lucky enough to attend the beginners course (non-veggie) and we really enjoyed the experience. Nikita is a very engaging teacher who provided a great introduction to Indian spices and cooking methods. He had prepared a lovely lunch for us as well and during the afternoon we took part in making five different dishes. We took our portions home to enjoy later.

Great way to learn some Indian cooking techniques and flavours
I was given a voucher for the course and a friend came with me, we attended the Keralan Vegetarian cookery course, and had an absolutely brilliant day. The course is for 6 people only, run by Nik, who is highly experienced and also a skilled and highly amusing communicator, a really fun person to have teaching us and sharing anecdotes. The first part of the day before lunch was slightly more theoretical, tasting spices and learning about flavour combinations, while the longer session in the afternoon followed the classic “watch and then do” format, actually cooking. We made many dishes, anlso including a chutney, dosas, dhal, thoran etc, most of which I had never tried before. We ate a little there and the rest we brought home (in very sturdy pots which didn’t leak, but I would still recommend bringing a bag with a waterproof liner, just in case.) It was a highly participative course and we got to taste regularly along the way, so we could decide if we wanted more chilli heat or to see what the impact of added coconut, lime etc did to a dish. It was a really good way to learn and understand the impact of different flavourings, and the recipes were sent through after the course so now all we have to do is recreate! The food tasted absolutely amazing, we had lots of delicious dishes to bring home and had fun meeting some new people. Nik was an absolute star, I would definitely do one of his courses again.

    VEGGIE TASTE OF THE PUNJAB
What an amazing day, I have learnt so much can be created with just a few key ingredients, the highlight was making the Panner cheese. The food we made as a group was amazing. Would absolutely recommend this as a great day out, I did the veggie punjab day and am busy perfecting my newly learnt skills.

Had a great day with my teenager daughter at Spice Monkey. Nik is a really good teacher - and made the learning fun. He really worked us through the foundation elements so that we could get an understanding of key ingredients in Indian cooking. And the food was ridiculously good. 2nd night back from vacation and we're trying to recreate one of the recipes...Highly recommend.

Also, we took the train out to Spice Monkey from Central London. It was super easy - and made us feel like real Londoners! Definitely a highlight of the trip for both of us.

Great experience. Bought it for a friend for his 50th Birthday present. Learnt so much about how to cook Indian food. I wanted to understand about spices and how to prepare and cook all the different types. And we did exactly that. Tasting the spices and learning all about blends, aromas, heat and more. All delivered whilst referencing Indian history and society, which was super helpful. Nikita was a great host and so engaging. The group size of 6 was perfect too. We all had some fun and fully immersed for the day. Will be back I'm sure. Shout out to sous James who did a fab job in background keeping things motoring along...
