Went on the Punjab vegetarian course which started with spice tasting (who knew cloves made your mouth numb and cinamon bark was very hot if chewed long enough!) and an education in how to use them for best effect. We cooked 5 dishes throughout the day, with a light lunch in between and regularly tasted what we were making for spice etc. Fairly basic kitchen set up in his conservatory, but that added to the feeling that you don't need sophisicated equipment to cook good indian food. Ingredients were prepped already so didn't have to spend time chopping onions (and crying!). I was in a small group of 3 on the course (I think a few had dropped out at the last minute) and we took it in turns to cook the dishes and help each other under Nik's watchful eye. Nik had a very dry sense of humour and so the day had lots of laughter and was good fun (as well as being very educational). Went home with an amazing curry to impress the family with!

Amazing day would thoroughly recommend it, learnt so much. Nokia is an excellent tutor with a sense of humour which makes you feel relaxed. I would definitely book up another course.

Brilliant day on the Taste of the Punjab cooking lesson. Small groups so you get a lot of one-to-one time and learnt a lot of interesting techniques and tips. 100% would recommend!

We had a fun and informative time with N. His dry, curmudgeonly but modest humour quickly bonded the small class and kept us focused, entertained and - smiling. His eloquent and engaging teaching style has left an indelible memory and confidence that I can recreate the dishes at home. His lack of fear of improvisation - with the background of core knowledge he imparted to us - has left me confident enough to start to experiment with spices. His golden rule: “Don’t burn it!". The food we produced tasted divine and authentic. But when I asked him for the recipe for the lunchtime snack his mum had made it ...he clammed up …I dunno - maybe N's mum is a better chef?
PS. N has now clarified - his mum’s lovely lunch is a bit tricky to make but that he’ll teach us on the next course we take…which I am very much looking forward to!

Nikita is extremely professional, polished, and patient as a teacher. I was thrilled with our class experience (originally booked in March 2020 but we had to postpone due to COVID-19 -- and he kept us on track to ensure we could participate). Each step of the day was clear, and offered us great knowledge and confidence to use spices in all new ways! The work environment is well placed, and we all had ample room to navigate the lesson while maintaining lockdown rules. I highly recommend taking the class to learn new skills, or hone on existing ones. It was fun, educational, and the food was amazing!

Had an amazing time on the Simply Vegan course with my fellow newbies. Nikita was an expert and informative teacher. Lots of patience and a great sense of humour. I was able to pick up so many helpful tips and the meals we prepared were delicious. The course has definitely given me a new understanding of the best spice combinations and the confidence to try the same recipes at home. Also felt Covid safe. I would totally recommend it!!!

I bought this cooking class for my husband’s birthday and the online reviews were so good that I decided to tag along. What a day !
We learned so much, got a lot of cooking done and Nikita is a great teacher (and I love his sense of humour!). First, we dived deep into the spices realm to get a good understanding of each of them, how they compliment one another and what each brings to a dish. It was great that there is a good deal of time dedicated to that. For one, I almost never taste them on their own..I just got a general ideal of how I like them in a dish. Well, the tasting session made me rethink a few things.. and sort of reconciled me with cumin for example!
Then, on to the cooking. We prepared 4 dishes + naan bread. OMG, everything turned out soooo tasty and flavoursome. I was really pleasantly surprised with the Aubergine dish (baingan bharta). My husband doesn’t particularly like aubergine so we rarely use it at home. But this dish... WOW! An explosion of flavours! We both agree on that and can’t wait to try it again at home. My second favourite was the Makhni Dal - always a winner with me. And definitely happy that I’ll be able to make it at home. All in all, if you are a looking for an instructional, fun cooking experience which will then give you the confidence to be adventurous in your home cooking, look no further. This is the one to go for!
Bonus point : Nikita is very on top of the Covid safety measure. You will be provided with a visor and be encouraged to wash your hands constantly.

An excellent into to the taste of the Punjab. Technical enough to be of interest to capable home cooks, but not so technical as to be unrepeatable at home.
And very COVID secure.

We had a truly excellent day. Nikita was very informative, engaging and witty. We have acquired practical skills which will be put to good use and friends/family will undoubtedly be highly impressed. The food made was simply exquisite and we had leftovers to enjoy later. Many thanks for such an enjoyable day.

How do you handle vegetarians? We don't want to have to cook meat.

Yes, I had no problem parking as the location seemed relatively quiet. I think your son would be able to park close by as I did and I drive a Landrover
