Nice pub but we didn't have the pleasure to enjoy it . As soon as we crossed the entrance door with our 2 kids we have been turned away as kids are not allowed in the bar area..but just outside, where no table and chairs are provided ! No even dogs are treated the same way.

This is one of the real old East End market pubs and although the clientele have changed over time, it still has great atmosphere and is unpretentious. I believe they have a restaurant of some repute but this is upstairs and has closed and opened again recently after a change of management (I am told). The beer here is excellent.... More

Such a historic pub located across the road from spitafields market. We stopped by for a quick pint before shopping and found to have plenty of ales and lagers on tap to choose from. Popular with the lads and lonesome hubby's waiting for their ladies to emerge from across the road from their shopping expedition. Jack (the ripper) wouldn't recognise... More

I love to people watch when I am taking a load off and this place was a perfect stopping point on our walk round London. They have a lot of local craft ales on offer and the decor is something you need to see. The updated indoor mural is a definite eye catcher. The huge windows also made it ideal... More

Almost perfect! Me and my partner went there last autumn and went on to do our own Jack The Ripper walk and tour around the East End and Brick Lane. We absolutely love it there. This wonderful historic pub really evokes some of the Victorian past, some of which is grisly! The only thing that let it down was we... More

Had dinner in the upstairs restaurant on Saturday evening. The place was buzzy and had a nice atmosphere, service was okay even if the waitress was a little distant and not over friendly. The food was just barely okay, but £28 for a gristly thin sirloin steak with a splodge of mashed potatoes is a total rip off and the... More

Disappointing food, service with a bit of an attitude and defensive when feedback given about the experience. Overall, expensive for what it was, would not recommend.

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighbourhood Profile
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
