The area
Address
Neighbourhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

Cool experience, dress warmly in winter
Cool experience having drinks in the Sky Garden bar at night. The interior is chilly in winter as it’s ventilated to the outdoor temperature, but small blankets are provided. Book a reservation ahead of time. Keren was a great server and so sweet!

    Amazing experience !
My wife and I ate here for our last night in London and we were thrilled with the view from the moment we walked off the lift. We walked around the area and enjoyed the different viewing points, plants, and music. As we were taken to our seat we met our wonderful server, Keren. She greeted us with a smile and even provided extra blankets for my wife to make her more comfortable. Keren made sure we were well taken care of and everything came out on time. She was even kind enough to take photos of us as well to capture our last night in London. We will recommend this location to any friends visiting the area. We recommend the Steak and Ale Pie. Yum! Thank you Sky Garden & Keren!

    Average at Best
Average at best. Taking full advantage of the venue rather than providing a dining experience. Lamb shank was cold and veg was just that with mash potato and two cabbage leaf, gravy was tasteless. Christmas pudding was over microwaved and custard was slashed all over the plate. All served up by staff giving each other hugs and high fives. Three guys in blue jackets really didn't seem to have a role while we had to ask for additional drinks that were never served to us. Nothing more than a high end Weatherspoons.

    View london from up high
Free tickets need to be booked in advance. Queue outside, airport style security to get in. We had a small wheelie suitcase with us. Up to floor 35 in a fast lift. Opens out onto indoor viewing platforms with seating, toilets, drinks to purchase. You can climb the stairs to higher viewing platforms and entrance to the restaurant. Views of london from all windows.

    Wonderful Evening
I’m Fantastic service and incredible views, we enjoyed the live music too. Reasonable prices for drinks. There were some blankets available but was on the colder side so would advise in winter to take a coat. Special thanks to Keren who made our experience so memorable.

    Stunning Sky High Experience
We were told this is a must do, must see before leaving Australia and being free entry, suited the budget. We chose this in lieu of the Shard based on recommendations, cost and location and were not disappointed. Friendly staff, great menu and dining selection and of course stunning 360° views all encased in a casual yet slick, sunny and modern setting. The Mediterranean/subtropical plant selection brings the outside in giving the whole place its unique and welcoming atmosphere. It would be a sensational place to hold a function or visit at night although our visit was during the day. We opted for cake and coffees but the cocktail and bar delights were equally as inviting. An absolute must do if you're an out of town visitor or wanting a special location to celebrate an occasion or just love experiencing London from a high.

Who came up with the loo idea?
Wonderful views but had to pay £18pp to get in which included a glass of champagne and no seat apart from upstairs at the back. The DJ was pumping out tunes at the front whilst C the speaker at the back bar was playing something else and it was one big unpleasant noise!! But the main issue for me were the toilets. Unisex cubicles and a toilet just for men! So us women have to endure piss on the seat and floor but the men get to have their own loo too. Not fair! I had to navigate a pool of urine and they were all like this! Who thought that was a good idea? Oh perhaps a man!!! Anyway I’m glad I went up to see the views but if I’m gonna pay £18 for a glass of champagne I’d rather have Taitinger than Moët please, just a bit classier!

    Amazing views!
Such a fun place to dine! The views are incredible, looking straight out to see over top of London Tower, London Bridge, and Tower Bridge. Walking around inside the gardens is such a fun experience for all ages. The food and wine were incredible. I highly recommend the Chicken Risotto!

    Fantastic experience
We booked three weeks ahead and fortunately had a fine day. Skygarden is an excellent free attraction, offering spectacular views over London. We visited early and queued for a few minutes to clear security, the staff were all efficient and pleasant and after a very rapid lift ride we were 35 floors up. We stayed for a couple of hot drinks (these are pretty expensive) had a wander around inside and out, and took lots of photos. A great way to spend an hour or so.

I visited sky garden with friends this Wednesday evening (29th Nov 2023). The live music accompanied a lovely atmosphere. The bar staff were, for the most part, helpful and accommodating. However, bartender Malaika was particularly conscientious and patient in helping me and my friends find a drink to our liking, despite my fussy umming and arring over which drink I wanted which I particularly appreciated. Her ‘happy to help’ attitude, along with an in depth knowledge of cocktail mixology really set our night off on the right foot and really allowed us to have a great night feeling like we were welcome at the venue.

Otherwise the service was nice and would 100% return.

The rooftop says it closed by 1 a.m. At 12:20, we ordered a bottle of champagne, 5 minutes later, the security person start to yelling at us and everyone who was there saying we all need to leave the place, because the place was closing. We explained to him, that we just ordered the bottle and the security guy keep yelling. Then he literally kicked us off the place and start sending kisses and doing nasty signs when we told him he didn´t had respect with everyone that was in the place.

I dont understand how a place like this allows that the security people treat everyone so bad. It was my boyfriend birthday and this person ruin the whole experience!

We had a great dinner in the Darwin Brasserie that is in the same location, and they recommend to us to go for the last drink in this place!

Off course we didn´t had the security person name, but we took pictures. We expect the restaurant take appropiate measures!

Lovely place but gets exceptionally busy which can diminish the experience a tad. Recommend booking a window seat but be aware that there’ll be a lot of people stepping around you to get to the windows for a picture.

I came here tonight with my friends, the place was supposed to close at 2am but at 00.30 they kicked us out. The bodyguard pushed my friend (girl) and broke her glass very violently. It’s absurd we will never come back here again

We ordered our tickets 3 weeks in advance for 4pm so we watched the sun setting and city lights turning on. Plenty of booking time options were available within a few days. We walked right in after passing through security. One of our party was late and the friendly staff accommodated our entry to allow for our special case. Great view of London from the top. And, it is free. We stayed about an hour - we intended to purchase drinks via the QR coded menu but ended up wandering through the gardens for the duration. We did not experience the heated seats - not sure where they were- maybe another reviewer could add that detail. Not a lot of explanation about what you are looking at - which did not detract for us - but perhaps this is cause for some reviewers’ disappointment of the stunning panorama? Definitely worth a visit.

We had dinner at Darwin’s Bratisserie. At first, the prices were so high, but they deserve it. We ate the Darwin’s burguer and it can probably be the best burguer I have eaten in my life. The sights are amazing and the personal is quite good. Thanks to John, that talked with us in Spanish, our language, and took care of all details. I recommend a lot this experience!!

Fantastic disco bar located on the top of a skyscraper. Friendly and funny atmosphere. Music in surrounding and a wonderful Wien of the city and Southwark. The drink list is not complete like you expect. The cocktail is present in too simple way. For 19£ each you deserve a better presentation.

2023 Sky Garden, London

We were at the Spice Roads Moroccan café at EPCOT, when our English waiter told us about “Sky Garden” in 2021. He highly recommended the experience. We had the chance to experience Sky Garden ourselves in June of 2023. The following is our story.

One will need reservations. You can go on-line several months before and book a table at the restaurant or request to visit Sky Garden. It is one of several high-rise buildings that have been built around the river Thames. Some people may confuse it with the current highest building in London, the Shard. The Sky Garden looks like a squished accordion.

One can also obtain a pass just to see the three-story dome that has splendid views over the Thames and city. It appeared the majority of people were just visiting and not eating at the restaurants. People were taking advantage of the numerous comfortable couches. There were also tables. Some people were napping away.

We decided to have a reservation at the Darwin Brasserie on level 36. Close by was the Fenchurch Restaurant on level 37. The name “Fenchurch” comes from the street where Sky Garden is on.

There is also a Sky Pod Bar and City Garden establishments. If you don’t want to go that high, there is the Larch restaurant on the ground floor which specializes with Italian food.

Your restaurant reservation also entitles you to roam around on levels 35, 36 and 37. There is literally 360-degree views of London. The famous Shard is not far away. One is literally on top of the Thames River.

The elevators will zip you up in no time at all. If you are claustrophobic, one could wait until an elevator was less full—which we did for my wife.

Our reservation was for 17:00 and we were prompt. We noticed on the Darwin’s computer screen there are about 40 or so tables that have reservations from breakfast through dinner. It is well stated in the reservation form that you have but “2 hours” at your table. “Eat and begone!”

As we were checking in, we noticed a table leaving. It was right next to the railing with incredible views. We asked for that table and received it. Consequently, getting a table by the railing is “the luck of the draw.” You might be able to request it on the form you send via email?

I ordered a cold beer—Birra Moretti—and my wife a glass of wine. We did order a side of assortment of breads with Cornish sea salt. My wife and I split an asparagus soup which was tasty. We also split a grilled “Portobello Mushroom Steak.” My wife and I enjoyed it.

Our bill came in well over a 100 pounds—but well worth it—with the view. Prices are at the higher end but doable. In another year, we may do this activity again. One of our friends have reserved for a second time.

If you found this review to be “helpful” in any way, please click “Thumbs-up” to let me know.

Tried to book (free) tickets on 30th October for a visit on 19th November, as website said tickets available to book up to 3 weeks in advance, but nothing was available until the following week. It did state however that walk-ins are accepted if they have availability. With this in mind we headed to Sky Garden around 9am to see if we could gain access. Opening hours stated from 8am, but also said 'ticketed hours' from 11am.
Building was open so we went in to enquire about access. We were advised that we would need to purchase a ticket at a cost of £9.50. We thought this was rather extortionate for a walk around the garden to see the views of London, but as it was our last morning in London and we had travelled to the area specifically to visit the garden we decided we would pay. What an absolute waste of money! Yes it is lovely inside, but the city views are all through glass windows which you can't get close to to take photographs due to benches which you aren't allowed to stand on. There did seem to be one small walkway outside with views of The Shard and Tower Bridge, but the doors to this area were locked. We didn't quite understand what privileges we were paying £9.50 per head for to be visiting 'outside of public opening hours'. You will get as good a view from any tall building with windows in the same area.
All in all it was very disappointing. We spent about 20 minutes walking around taking a few photographs and then left.
My advice would be don't waste your money. If you manage to get a free ticket it's worth a visit just for the view. Otherwise give it a miss.

There were a polish security guy at the door on 18th of November 2023 at 11:45.
I have arrive 10 minutes early with my family (6 people in total included a child).
We went to the main entrance with our tickets . The very rude polish guy started to shout us ' stay back " without any reason.
We only want the information where to go or what we should do to access the building.
We have experienced a very disappointed reaction from him .
We will never go there again .
Very rude staff and none knowledge of customer service.
