Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.

- Tony G5 contributionsSecret Studio Escape RoomMy two (adult) daughters booked this for my 66th birthday & the 3 of us had an amazing time. Andrew explained everything clearly before we went in & we loved every minute of it. The clues are various & ingenious & they give you encouragement (via a screen inside the room) and/or a nudge here & there if they think you need a little help. All very cleverly done & some jumpy moments too which just adds to the fun. All in all a great way to spend an hour & would highly recommend it.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 February 2024
- Katie T5 contributionsAmazing escape room experienceThis escape room was the best I have done, the attention to detail and storytelling were superb and it gave us all the feels, we laughed, screamed and bonded over the tricksy puzzles and clues. As a big fan of Hitchcock cinema, I loved the film element of this room and it was the perfect level of difficulty to test us! The hosts are so warm, welcoming and fun and make this experience one to remember from start to finish! ThankyouVisited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 25 February 2024
- Michael D1 contributionOne of the best attractions in LondonI visited this escape room with a group of friends in February 2024. I had never been to an escape room before so was unsure what to expect but the whole experience was fantastic. The staff were welcoming, the experience mixed lateral thinking, problem solving, tension, adrenaline and scares in just the right amounts! The attention to detail in the rooms was incredible, the plot, puzzles and special effects used were amazing and the whole thing was a truly absorbing memorable experience. I couldn't recommend it enough.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 25 February 2024
- Gavin S1 contributionSo much fun!Secret Studio offers the perfect balance of intrigue and fun, with a dash of exhilaration thrown in for good measure. The clues and puzzles are innovative and challenging whilst always feeling achievable. I experienced emotions ranging from the satisfaction of revelation to the thrill of terror (thankfully just fleetingly!) and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for an exciting and entertaining time with friends.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 26 February 2024
- Mister W1 contributionBest escape room in London! The best escape room in London by a long way! A scrupulously curated, totally immersive experience, this escape room is total theatre, which takes the concept of 'breaking the fourth wall' and comprehensively redefines it. The game itself is richly textured, twisting and turning as it moves from frantic, fast-paced action to moments of slower, more contemplative gameplay. The games masters are conspicuous in their excellence: welcoming, engaging, and never once breaking character (even when pointing out tue emergency exits), they lead the player deep into their world from the moment the door opens. A genuinely memorable and profoundly enjoyable experience.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 26 February 2024

The welcoming staff, the attention to detail and the perfect mix of intrigue and fun made for an unforgettable experience. And it's the right level of difficulty as I actually managed to solve a few clues :-) Also it's clear a lot of thought has gone into the scene and storyline - very unique!! A perfect way for friends, colleagues or family to spend time in London...definitely a bonding experience!Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 27 February 2024

Visited Secret Studio as a group of 3 escape room novices, and it’s given us the bug! Firstly, the theming of the room is second to none, and the intricacy and use of real film props is really appreciated. We loved the “aha!” moments when the penny finally drops and the puzzles make sense, and our fabulous GM gave us just enough tips (and praise) to guide us through. The second half of the room is so atmospheric, and we were scaring ourselves and each other much more than the room was trying to scare us, testament to how well the room is designed. The few jumpy bits are just enough to keep the suspense at it’s peak and keep you fully engaged with the room and the varied puzzles. We escaped with 3 minutes to go, increased heartbeats and grins from ear to ear. This was perfect for our first escape room adventure, and we will definitely be back for more! Thanks to the Secret Studio team for such a brilliant 57 minutes.

Excellent experience. The clues were well done and the story unfolds at a good pace with excellent use of technology that keeps you in the story.
The games master was very good and helped the story progress so you don't get stuck on one puzzle the entire time.
Would highly recommend.

We visited here on the 6th February as a group of 6 celebrating a birthday. The experience was brilliant from start to finish. None of us had done an escape room before so we weren’t to sure what to expect, however, when we got into the swing of it, it was great. We couldn’t stop laughing from start to finish, from having to find the entrance to begin with to solving the room. Staff were also very friendly particularly Aaron , who did have to give us quite a bit of help along the way.
I would 100% recommend this to anyone who fancies an escape room in London!

We had a really good time as a family doing one of the escape room experiences at Secret Studio.
The experience started 24 hours before our slot, with an email from our host, Laurence, giving us very, very specific, instructions on how to find the Studio on Wentworth Street. This wasn’t just about turning up at an obvious place advertising itself as an escape room – the problem-solving started with the vague instructions in that email. It was a neat trick, putting us in the right frame of mind for the experience long before it started.
Laurence was a huge amount of fun and did an amazing job of blending humour with instruction in the pre-experience briefing; he was also brilliant at encouraging / helping us when we got stuck. It’s fair to say that we went into this a little apprehensive – only our eldest daughter had done an escape room before – and didn’t know whether we’d epically fail or wind up in a massive argument, or both (apparently, according to Laurence, this happens regularly). In the end, with a bit of support from the messages Laurence sent us while we were floundering and some pretty excellent team work, we escaped our experience after 65 minutes – just five minutes over our allotted time. We were all pretty pleased with that.
The theming of Secret Studio was part of what made this such a fun thing to do. The idea is that you’re entering a low-budget murder mystery film studio to solve a specific case, and the attention to detail was superb – old editing equipment, movie posters, TV equipment, film cases and so on. It felt hugely immersive and like you really had entered an old studio sometime in the 1970s or 1980s, fully leaving the hipster streets of Shoreditch behind. So much so that when we emerged into a bright Autumn afternoon, it took a while to adjust to normal life again – I was still trying to solve clues and looking at doorways and people with a detective’s eye while we walked back along Brick Lane.
Highly recommended and well worth the copious praise this experience has received. Note that we asked for the team to limit the number of jump scares in our specific experience because, well, we’re all a bit timid. “I’ll ask,” said Laurence, never once stepping out of character. “Mrs Stokes can be a bit funny about these things…”

I took a group of 20 to Secret Studio recently for a corporate fun event and we all had a fabulous afternoon. I can thoroughly recommend the whole experience. The four rooms can all start at the same time allowing teams to race each other. The challenges were well thought out allowing all team participants to be busy all the time - no one was standing around bored. Helpful clues kept us on track ensuring we didn't get stuck and frustrated but also not making it too easy. The team looked after us so well. Thoroughly professional from beginning to end. Emails were responded to quickly and when an issue arose due to my error the team helped me sort it out quickly. On site staff were extremely helpful and energetic - taking on their story personas with gusto but in a non cheesy way. 10/10

Did this for a team event and thoroughly enjoyed it! The surprises kept on coming, everyone felt involved and managed to solve some of the clues.
The sets were brilliant, the use of the 70s and 80s props was perfect - some of our young players had no idea how to use an old dial telephone!
Much hilarity, great fun and very well put together.
A fantastic escape games, highly recommended!

Went here with some friends for my birthday. I'd done a couple of escape rooms before but none of the rest of the group had so they weren't sure what to expect. We ended up having the best time. Our host Laurence was fantastic at guiding us through the tricky bits (and let's be honest the easier bits too) whilst joking along with us. We somehow managed to escape with seconds to spare! Would recommend this to anyone, it's well worth it :)

A brilliant experience overall - certainly better than the first escape room I went to. As a group of friends (of which only half had experienced an escape room before) we would definitely recommend this for newcomers! The staff are very friendly, helpful and great hosts (especially Tice!). The scenarios are well thought out as well as the theming, and the acting was impeccable. The staff watch and listen throughout the escape room and assist immediately as necessary (even pausing the timer for unexpected difficulties). Do not worry about the difficulty of the scenario; they will provide small clues as you need them, so that you aren't just standing there for an hour making zero progress.

Secret Studio was fantastic from start to finish!
The staff there were incredibly helpful, kind and funny.
The escape rooms were the perfect level of fun and mind boggling! The hints given were personalised to the team and really made us all laugh when we were stuck.
The perfect level of scary without being over the top.
This whole experience was fantastic and I’m already looking forward to booking again for their new room/story!
10/10 one of the most fun experiences I’ve taken part in in London for year. Pricing was incredibly reasonable and clearly a lot of work has gone into all of it, could not recommend it more.

This was our first escape room and it set the standard super high for any future escape rooms. Finding the venue was easy and fun, a lovely little warm up to get the brain thinking. We were greeted by our fantastic game host, Callum, who set the scene perfectly and told us everything we needed to know as first time players.
You have one hour to complete the game and we managed it with minutes to spare. Being first timers, we were well chuffed - especially when Callum informed us we’d beaten Derren Brown’s teams time.
The venue, set up and decor were all perfect mood setters. It really does feel like you’re somewhere different and spookily abandoned. The team have obviously put a lot of time and effort into this and it shows.
The game itself, well, there is so much I’d like to talk about but I can’t without giving any of the secrets (and scares) away. All I’ll say is it got us thinking in all sorts of different ways and was exceptional fun. Callum gave us a run down at the end and we had a lovely chat about the whole experience. It made the game so much better to have a host as enthusiastic and knowledgeable as Callum.
Who is it suitable for? Teens and everyone above. We were there for my 31st birthday and the oldest member of our team was my 70 year old Dad. He absolutely loved it!
Most importantly, we really felt like we were in safe hands with Callum.
Would 100% recommend to everyone, especially first timers as it’ll show you what true escape rooms can be. Cannot wait to see, and play, what the team come up with next.
Thank you for a wonderful birthday experience!
PS. Callum, if you’re reading this, sorry for the late review and thanks again for the sweets!

1. Do the challenges involve codes and padlocks? I prefer escape rooms with automated solutions for progression.
2. Without revealing too much, could you say if there is more than one room?
Thank you. :)

1. There may be a code here or a padlock there, but we rely on a variety of puzzles and tasks to entertain our guests! You definitely won't be disappointed with our variety.
2. There's a mystery to solve, Who knows where it may take you...

Can just two people play or will we be put into bigger groups?
Written 8 April 2019
It’s a minimum of three people and I asked the team before we went if it’s possible just for two people. They said no problem, however you’d have to pay as if for a third person and the team will prepare a special set up just for two. It’s definitely more fun and easier to solve when there are more people involved though, so I’d recommend to invite a few friends along. I think 3-4 is probably the best team size.

Would this be suitable for an 11 year old and a 14 year old? There are five of us in total , the rest of us are 18, 46 and 49. Is this a good escape room for such an age range and are there different levels of difficulty?
