Butchery course a touch of class

Superbly impressed with the beef butchery class. Wasn't sure what to expect but upon entering I was met with a butchers shop, I was welcomed and sent to my station. The course was informal and fun but I actually learnt loads from the master butcher (a Slovenian chap whose name I've forgotten). At first I thought the package might be... More

I used to be a regular at the Ginger Pig and loved everything about it. I had noticed that the sausage rolls were getting smaller (probably 3/4s of the size they used to be) which was disappointing but I let it slide. However, last week I went in to buy my usual favourite sausage rolls for the family only to... More

Attended a butchery class tonight. A butcher demonstrated the butchering of a cow. We loved the explanation regarding curing the meat, what to ask from your butcher, as well as the different cuts of meat. We then got a piece of meat that we finalised. The evening was finalised with tasting of well prepared meat and some wine. With more... More

Cant get my head round how good this sausage roll was. Had some pretty good food in the last year or so but this £4 sausage roll was right up there. Having been to Hawksmoor a few times, myself and my friends have wanted to visit The Ginger Pig for a long time. Been in London with some time to... More

Have been a regular of the Ginger Pig for the last 2 years, primarily to buy their take away lunch box, which more often than not is a selection of bbq meat cuts (pulled pork, rump steak, chicken, sausage) together with all the trimmings. The quality of the beef at this butcher is superb, and couple that with a £6.50... More

Best sausage roll EVER. Start with an overly sage sausage (which is my favorite sausage flavor profile). Wrap it in a solid pastry. Be sure to have them heat it. Outstanding.

I visit this meat shop quite regularly - it isn't the cheapest butcher's shop but the quality of beef, lamb and chicken is extremely high. As to that really helpful and clear advice about the best way to cook your purchase, and it couldn't be much better. In fact, one of their staff dissuaded me from buying an expensive joint... More

Having been recommended by a friend I have enjoyed the Lunch Box several times. The adjacent park is an ideal spot in which to consume same. The selection of melt in your mouth meats, sauces, salads & vegetables is fantastic value at £6.50. Expect a long queue.

Great evening, something very different. Watched the butcher cut up a lamb, he gave us loads of info about the cuts & we then got to debone a lamb shoulder and roll it. Plenty of food afterwards, lamb of course & red wine. Also got to take your lamb shoulder home. Good night but not sure I'd pay the ticket... More

We attended the beef butchery class. I have to confess, at first I thought it was a bit expensive, but you get great value. We first had a masterclass in butchery (extremely interesting), and then we got hands on experience chopping up our own cote de boeuf (which is enormous and which you take home at the end of the... Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
