Fred was a proper gentleman, he picked us up from our hotel and dropped us off at the Castle, for our next piece of culture. The tour did take 2 hours and he still only charged us £7.50/each. Our two-hour walking tour of Norwich was one of the highlights of our trip. John Humphreys, our guide, was a marvelous storyteller, making history come alive at every turn. Medieval churches and cobblestone roads make for great photo ops, but John’s passionate tales of the Anglo Saxon and Norman inhabitants of the city had all 12 in our group captivated. We wanted something for the whole family to enjoy on a wet November day. This was perfect. We were a group of locals entertaining an overseas family member and we all enjoyed ourselves and learned things that we hadn’t know about Norwich. Fred is a font of knowledge, friendly and a local treasure. We are all so pleased that we took this trip through the lanes and hidden parts of Norwich. I had seen his lovely old vehicle in the past and never took the trip. Initially, I was quite disappointed when I realised that we were going to be traveling in an ordinary passenger van, but Fred’s knowledge and enthusiasm made up for any disappointment. Easy to book, just call the mobile number. There isn"t much Fred doesn"t know about Norwich, (which incidentallly in my opinion is more interesting than York or Bath) but the tour is packed with information, great value, & a lovely, lovely chappie. When we left the bus, we accidentally bumped into Fred, who then showed us into the beautiful St . Peter Mancroft Church to show us the lovely paintings, - he is so- o-o enthusiastic it is refreshing to hear.............Wonderful! In my humble opinion Norwich is undersold by the Tourist Information, \council, etc.We were incidentally on a Baker Dolphin holiday ,Fred was recommended by our driver ,a great tour of the city and well worth the money.…
