Love standing near the statue and looking out to sea. Plenty of seating in the area for a quick rest of the legs.

We wonder how many times you have visited? We re-open on 18 February, and remain open till the end of the season. The temporary exhibition for 2017 is ‘Kamchatka to Krakatoa, the Cook voyages in Asia’. Also a temporary loan of a portrait of Lord Anson from the National Portrait Gallery. My partner and I called for a look while out and about in Whitby. An informative museum. Telling the life and travels. Discovering a world of exploration. We called mid morning and it wasn't busy. Last admission was half hour before closure. This was 16.30 . Worth a look.

Both my boys had been desperate to go in and see what it was all about. Unfortunately there was little to engage them and they wanted to,get, round as quickly as possible. A real shame as it promises so much but delivers so little.

There’s lots for children to see and learn. We offer an ‘Activity Trail’. Volunteers will help. We are sorry your May visit did not go well. Our program of workshops for 2017 is nearly ready, and you are more than welcome to give us a ring and we will send it to you. More

You were indeed lucky. Entry for an adult is £5.70 during the season. During the winter when we are officially closed, we will open the Museum for people who are in the area but unlikely to be able to return. These are private individual visits pre-arranged by telephone, 01947 601900, at a mutually convenient time for which entry is £7.50... More
