Had a brilliant couple of days in york stayed at the double tree .Time to go home .our hotel book us a taxi to go to the station it arrived within about 10mins a really nice driver helped us with our bags and was very friendly. Arrived at the station reasonably priced went to get the train then my husband realised his phone had fell out of his pocket must be in the taxi. Called york taxis who got intouch with the driver inthe same time our daughter phoned his phone and the driver answered he did no more than turn round and bring it back carnt thank him enough. Bearing in mind our train tickets were on the phone. Thank you that driver. X

Outrageous prices - complete rip off !! We asked for a 6 seater to take us 2.1 miles back to our campsite as the kids were too tired to walk. £26 charged !! Apparently this is the minimum fare for this vehicle. We were not told this when we booked the taxi , only when we arrived at our destination . Would not recommend or use this service .

If I could give this no stars I would. We had two pre paid rides this week. We couldn't find the driver on the first pick up and when I called we had been reported no show and they wouldn't refund me.
At the second pick up I ran out to a car that briefly slowed down on the road and turned out it was our ride that was 5 minutes late. They would have driven by and marked me as a no show again. Upon arrival the driver insisted on a full fair payment even though we showed prepaid receipt and he had our information at pick up.
We thought it would be easier to pre book car service in a city we were unfamiliar in but wound up paying double. Just grab a taxi in the line at the train station or book an uber.
This service is a scam.

Never encountered such a rude human being in all my life. Asked if we could pay by card he said "I don't know". Asked to go to The Maltings which is a very famous pub in York he said he had never heard of it and made us google the address. Tried to ask about return journey to which he replied "goodbye". Sorry to say but taxi reeked of body odour too. Why work with the public when you clearly hate them.

We pre-booked a taxi through the app over a week early because we knew it was going to be busy. 15 minutes after the taxi was supposed to arrive we rung and they told us that they're busy and our driver was on the way. An hour after we should have been picked up the taxi got cancelled by them with no reason.

Terribly disappointed in the way I was spoken to by a member of the receptionist team. I rang when our taxi driver never turned up. They lied and claimed a driver had come to meet us, when we had been stood waiting the entire time and this categorically had not happened. The receptionist was terribly rude on the phone, mocked me when they seemed not to be listening and I felt compelled to repeat what the issue had been. Horrible experience and will avoid at all costs in future. This was a crucial booking, which I had stressed when I made it, and an important appointment was missed as a result.

I have ordered york cars around 4-5 times this month every trip has been abysmal. Late taxi’s I’ve missed trains, rude drivers. I’ve been spoken to badly by two drivers and no apology for being late. Disappointed, Uber drivers are waaay better than these guys. It’s a shame none of the york taxi companies seem to be any good anymore.
I’ve also had one driver who was early to my booking blamed me for being late and then proceeded to drive very unsafely as he seemed to be in a bad mood.

6 of us Were staying in York for one night and had booked an event in town for the evening. our hotel had kindly booked a taxi for us earlier in the day as we couldn’t be late we booked a time giving us 45 mins before we needed to be there for a 15 min drive up york cars kept us waiting for over half an hour we rang them several times after the first 10 mins to be just told it will be 5 minutes every time, luckily for us another taxi company dropped off a group at the hotel when we were waiting and we’re able to accommodate us. I would never use York Cars they obviously don’t manage advance bookings it would have been quicker to get the bus if only we’d known.

If I could give a minus score I would. I booked York Taxis to pick me and my husband up at 7pm tonight as I had booked a surprise meal for his birthday. The table was booked for 7.30 so plenty of time. 7pm came and went, no taxi, then a text to say “your taxi had been dispatched and will reach you around 7.17pm. WHAT, why bother booking if they arrive when they feel like it. The taxi eventually arrived at 7.20, no apology, I then had to call the restaurant to beg them to save our table. DO NOT USE YORK CARS unless you want to be late.

This used to be an extremely reliable company. No longer. Even booking the day before, taxi is still late and then the eye advise they don’t really do pre-booked cars as they don’t know how busy they might be. So they will take your booking, but id they are busy, they cannot honour the time and can be upwards of an hour late. Avoid like plague. Suggest Streamline Taxis. They actually do pre-book and honour.
