Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The ghost stories that were told, where quite believable. The guide was friendly and kept the atmosphere. Would recommend 👌

Entertaining walk with a skilled presenter who related well to all ages.
Thoroughly enjoyed our spooky stroll down snickets and back lanes.

excellent host who helped set the atmosphere for the ghost walk. the stories were spooky but always followed by a joke, which made an excellently entertaining balance of creepy and funny.

Enjoyed the ghost tour as you got to see parts of York that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. We found out some interesting historical information and our guide was very amusing. It was not scary though.

To be fair, it's cheap compared to the other ghost walks, but very little effort appeared made. It felt like he was phoning it in, spoke too fast, too softly, without drama. Hard to make out what he is saying sometimes. The whole thing is very lack lustre, which I think he probably thinks is easy sardonic charm. Wearing normal clothes, so he really needs to give it some ummph to stop it feeling like you are just following someone round the streets of york. There were only two ghost stories I could follow and hear. The others were indecipherable. Kids got bored.

Fun hour of tales. If you are a serious ghost hunter, then you may be disappointed. But if you like a few jokes and ghostly stories, then you’ll enjoy it.
Absolutely great value compared to most of the other ghost walks, only £5 each.

The guy, although pleasant isn't cut out to do guided tours. No acting talent, jokes flat (no comedian) and not a natural orator / story teller. It almost seemed like this guide had some kind of speach issue which meant he was extremely difficult to understand. Learnt more about animal carvings on buildings during this tour and virtually nothing about ghosts.

This tour must have different people who run it because I can't believe anyone would give it a good rating. It was the least expensive of the tours, and you get what you pay for. The guide walked us around and showed us mostly black cats around York. There was one story about a girl in a window. Otherwise, it was an hour of bad jokes. We learned absolutely nothing about the history of ghosts. The guide was funny in a sarcastic way and told some "Dad jokes". The guide also mumbled and was difficult to understand. We did see other tours and the guides were animated and more in "dress" for a ghost tour. If you want a true ghost tour I would not take this one.

Worst ghost tour I have experienced, stories hard to understand and missed out so many, supposedly 1000 ghosts in York we heard of about half a dozen! Funny in parts, more like a parody of a ghost tour

The Ghost Trial of York Walk was interesting and delivered by a quirky host who had an 'unusual sense of humour'. The walk was ok but if you were not right at the very front you couldn't hear him and he didn't wait and project his voice, it was a mumble, which made it impossible to hear! The tour took you down some streets that you probably wouldn't otherwise visit
