Kids loved it, I did too

Great tour, friendly staff. We were the last tour of the day and it was just our family. Lots to discover and learn here, digging up clues to the past.

My 3 year old absolutely loved it. We took the DIG experience for £6.50 per adult which includes digging at different places and handling the artefacts. You can visit only the exhibit as well. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour takes around an hour, but you could spend more time around the exhibit. I would highly recommend... More

We loved this very interactive museum our guide Beth was very knowledgeable, only down side as we were booked for late afternoon and enjoyed talking to Beth so much we ran out of time to view the rest of the museum but our ticket is valid for a full 12 months so we could go back another day.

The children really enjoyed all the interactive activities. They were impressed having a real archaeologist talking to them and explaining what they might find when they took part in the dig. It was good that the visit was organised so that visitors took part in small groups so ensuring they could all participate. Our guide had time to explain to... More

My kids enjoyed this more than Yorvik and I think they learnt more as it was more hands on. Lovely guide who took the kids through everything and explained things at just the right level. It's tucked away a bit but worth finding out.

We visited as it is part of the family Jorvik card we have and really enjoyed it. The guide was friendly, enthusiastic and informative. The kids loved the interactive digging element and then the sorting of artefacts and learning something new. The interactive nature of this attractions is the key element and we will certainly be returning.

I'd not heard about DIG before coming to York and had somehow managed to miss all mentions of it online. Luckily I found out about it in time and arranged to visit with my 2 children (7 and 5). It is brilliantly set up - back to basics on archaeology with the opportunity to "dig" in different mock sites representing... More

Visited here with our 2 children 6 and 10 years of age, Very educational, the kids enjoyed it, all very hands on. Staff are very informative. The Dig is set in a small church so not as big as we thought but we were still there for 2hours. Admission price not too bad in comparison to some attractions so worth... More
