A trip to the shambles is always a must when in York. It can get very busy but the atmosphere is great and the independent shops are interesting and good to Potter about in.

Everyone needs to visit this most famous street in York, think there were more active shops in the Shamblles since our last visit a year ago.Its such a beautiful street that takes you back in time .So busy during the day time but takes on a different look in the evening so quiet, and a little spooky.

Great part of town in respect of the architecture. Unfortunately littered with a huge amount of absolutely uninteresting shops. Nevertheless, some rare gems can be found in the mix of tourist traps.

Time seems to fly when you visit Yorks shopping streets, none more so than the small narrow streets and alleys that make up the shambles, opening up into squares where there are market stalls. There is always something new and different just around the corner. Lots of independent shops which is good, especially the cheese shops. Well worth a visit

Walked through the shambles and shambles market and didnt really get what the fuss was about. Quaint streets but the market isn't good at all.

Probably the joint most visited tourist venue in York. Many small businesses, some of which have been resident for many years.

For such a small street, there's loads to see. Take your time to look at all the different buildings and how they sit next to each other. Go inside the shops and whilst browsing, look how one quirky room leads to another. Your walking through history on 'The Shambles'
