Stunning quirky shops full of history and you definitely get the impression of bygone years. You could get lost in the back alleys so go and enjoy.

My wife and I enjoyed our stroll along Shambles heading towards York Minster but found the Shambles Market nothing special to any other town( or should I say as bad as others). The shops are a variation of good and the usual tacky tourist plus nice food establishments. We had a lovely coffee and patisseries at Lucia's Patisserie and Gift... More

Are a few of the shops here a little twee? Probably. Are there throngs of tourists? Definitely. However, there is no street, anywhere in Britain, that can transport an individual back in to the medieval era quite like the Shambles. Of course this place is busy, but it has been so for centuries.
