A fun and alternative way to see York city centre. As tourists with children aged 9 to 11, we used this outdoor activity as a structure around which to see York.
As a treasure trail, we felt it was pitched at the right level to offer everyone an engaging and challenging experience.
Excellent value, and the 1.5 - 2.5hr estimate is probably right. But we had no time constraints and this was a day out for us. The beauty of a self-guided activity is that we could do it at our own pace, and took numerous breaks for ice cream, the toilet, lunch, to visit attractions and even a go on a boat ride!
I would definitely recommend this to both tourists and York inhabitants, as the route takes in the major attractions, gardens, and river etc, but also some more interesting and obscure features of York.
We were all very impressed by how well the treasure hunt worked on our mobiles, and found the delivery slick and graphics sophisticated. I don’t want to give anything away, but the graphic at the end was a lovely surprise.

I found this treasure hunt by chance and I'm so pleased I did. It was such a clever and unique way to explore the streets of York. It was my first visit and this treasure hunt made sure I got to see sights off the beaten path and leant historical facts I would otherwise have missed. Highly recommended for first time visitors and people who know the streets well alike.

We enjoyed exploring the little streets of York. The treasure hunt is a fun way to explore. The "Captain Bess" interaction and clues add to the adventurous experience. We will be looking out for more treasure hunts when we explore other cities.

A really fun activity to do during lockdown. My Mum and I were looking for something to do while I had some time off and this was a lot of fun! Even though we are from York we still learnt things we didn't know.

We have struggled to keep our 8 year old and 11 year old motivated to get out in the fresh air and off devices during lock down. This was the perfect solution. The whole family really enjoyed the walk round our home town of york, seeing places we didn’t know existed. We all really enjoyed looking for the clues and best bit- no moaning to go home from the kids!!!!! Strongly recommend this activity.

With new covid restrictions, last month my boyfriend and I (both in our 20s) were looking for something to do that could keep us entertained in the rain all day...thank goodness we found the Treasure Hunt! We LOVED it!
There is an interactive chat which made it super engaging and especially helpful when there was a tricky clue that we couldn't quite solve. Even though we both live in York we still managed to discover new backstreets we had never seen before. Thank you so much for keeping us entertained! 100% recommend.

Excellent way to see parts of York which are slightly off the tourist trail. We really enjoyed the clues which were challenging but not impossible. Remember to charge your phone before starting!

Cannot fault the whole experience, so well thought out and beautifully coded. I did this with my girlfriend on a day where we had nothing to do; we booked on and instead of a day of nothing we had a day of fun and giggles. Loved the whole concept of the hunt and have found “hundreds” (not quite but a lot) of new places to visit in York simply by following our treasure experience.
Would recommend and give 6 stars if possible!

Excellent experience, well thought out clues and presented in a fun way.
We thought the clues were pitched at the correct level, not too easy and made you look very closely at your surroundings, without being impossible to solve.
We had a fun day exploring York with a few pit stops for refreshement between clues.
Would definitly recommend this as an activity for all the family to enjoy
