I have to admit that my favorite thing about this church is the name. Apparently having pavement in front of achurch was anew and wonderful invention. But it is also a lovely and serene space with a beautifully carved pulpit and lovely stained glass.

A beautiful Church with a tall spire in the middle of the York shopping precinct and well worth a stop & look. Couldn't find out the story behind the strange name though ?

In the middle of the busy York street scene is this church whose lantern used to guide people in from the north. It is lovely inside and worth a visit.
