Great exhibition in the Monk Bar dedicated to the life of Richard III and his connections with York. Two floors to explore. Takes about an hour if you read all the panels and watch the video about the battle of Towton which adds to the...More

Okay as a short stop between attractions. Not much to see but everything linked to local history. Not suitable for less able tourists as steep stairs.

Visited as part of a joint ticket with Jorvick, this was an interesting little museum in an old city gate. A good stop on the walk around the city walls, this museum provides some background on Richard III and the time around him. There are...More

A very interesting exhibit. I wish I had had more time to enjoy it more and then explore the walls. This is not for the disabled as there are lots of steep and narrow stone staircases.

As someone very interested in Richard iii it is a little disappointing and limited in what it can convey, particularly in such a small space. The video of the discovery of the bones in Leicester is kind of hidden inside a cupboard-not sure if they...More

Small but full of information! We bought the Jorvik medieval pass for £6 each (student price) which meant we could also visit the Henry VII experience and Barley Hall, both which were excellent! Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in history and will visit again...More

Second stop on the Medieval Pass and so much better than the Henry VII Experience. Small museum over 2 floors accessed by steep steps. Make sure you watch the video on the upper floor before exploring the rest. Very interesting and plenty of stuff for...More

I called in here while walking the walls of York. Interesting to see inside one of the wall gatehouses anyway, and the small entry fee also covers you for visiting the Henry VII museum in the opposite gate

This little museum is full to the brim of real interesting information. Great stuff for kids (although we don't have any). Great use of space and an added extra for your Jorvik ticket! Great staff too! The history they pack into this space is amazing,...More
