I am not Catholic but used to attend services with my late husband. I was visiting York on a Holy Day, with a friend, so I sent to a Mass with her. The church itself was nice enough, although not extremely impressive. I guess I've just seen too many other churches around the world and am experiencing burnout.

Have visited a few times this year. This is a refreshing and sensitive place of worship, in a tasteful setting. Have attended Mass and also entered through the designated 'Holy Door'. The young 'priests' are friendly and knowledgeable. This is a beautiful Catholic Church and a Grade 11 listed building. The history of this church is worth reading, in addition... More

No crowds like the York Minster which is just steps away. Beautiful church in its own right. Well worth the visit to experience this lovely landmark.

The building of St. Wilfrid's combines the decorative atmosphere of churches found on the contient, but with a calm English dignity. Have attended Mass here many times and the Mass is on the more "high" end of the Catholic spectrum, but nevertheless beautiful. If nothing else, go for confession, the priests are very good listeners and understanding!

I've been to lot of churches throughout Europe and beyond. St Wilfred's is nice - I can't say more. It doesn't have stand-out architecture or decoration and I haven't worshipped there. However, it is quiet, a good place to meditate, relatively free from tourists, certainly more so than the Minster or St Michael le Belfry.

Over-shadowed by York Minster, which is located a short distance away, this simple but pretty church is considered by Catholics as the "Mother Church of York." It was completed in 1864 in late 13th century Gothic style, and as such, is not old when compared to other edifices across Great Britain. After visiting York Minster, my spouse spotted this church... This is the main RC church in York, just a short walk from the main bus terminus, The priests' house is around the corner in High Petergate which is to yr right and then left if facing the main door. Sadly, the Door of Mercy was locked when we were there - which took me by surprise. Nobody on hand... More

It is close to the York Minster and much smaller but it is quite a pretty working church and worth taking a look inside.

I attended a Saturday Vigil mass here. It was lovely and the atmosphere is very prayerful and peaceful. I will return if I am in York again.

I came into this church on the way to visit the Minster. Spent some time here as the atmosphere was warm and friendly. I lit some candles and was amazed to see there was a no fixed fee, only a donation. How disappointed I was when I discovered the fee to enter the Minster was £10.00. They should learn something...
