Nice surprise!

The lady in the Treasurer's house told us about this house and it's well worth the bus ride to go and see it. The gardens are just lovely and the house is very interesting.

As always our visit commenced in the restaurant where the choice is good. The trip round the garden was amazing. There is a tennis court and a croquet lawn where you can play should you wish to. The newly planted orchard promises to do well and they are creating raised vegetable beds. The area round the pond was interesting and... More

Lovely home. Original furniture was not in the A and C style. It was 17 & 18C French, Terry's taste. House is now rather sparsely furnished with pieces more in keeping with its own period, though not predominantly in the Arts and Craft taste. The house is well presented by an enthusiastic and knowledgable team of volunteers. Our thanks and... More

I am an avid National Truster so any NT property has a head start with me but Goddard's House especially so as Goddard was my maiden name and so gave me a special interest to learn why it was called Goddard's House when it was actually the house belonging to the Terry family. Lots to learn about this chocolate history... More

We had another enjoyable visit to Goddards House, which was once the home of the Terry family but is now run by the National Trust. The house is lovely inside although most of the original furniture has been moved to Fairfax House and can be seen there. The gardens are beautifully landscaped and well maintained and back on to York... More

Lovely property to visit. Relatively small but packed with interesting bits and pieces. Very family friendly. The gardens include a pond area, a tennis court and boules area, a formal water feature, allotment, green house and other areas. The kids love running around it. The house is also quite small but again is very family friendly with games in some... More

The house and especially the garden are beautifully presented but we felt there should be a lot more to say about the Terry family and their chocolate we were left wanting more....very little mention for Neapolitans! The garden was absolutely beautiful on a dull day so can only imagine how spectacular it will be in summer sunshine.

What a fantastic well preserved former residence of the Terry's family. A typical arts and crafts era family home. Wonderfully planned gardens you could imagine the family playing croquet or tennis on the lawn. The afternoon tea is a delicious naughty treat. To be able to sit on the terrace outside like the family would've done is a privilege. Well... More

This was a really enjoyable afternoon's visit. The house is beautiful and well furnished. The National Tust staff were always helpful and attentive to adults and children alike. The house does not have the long history of some places but it is very interesting and some of the exhibits on display are obviously like a personal history of the families... More
