Great little pub, low door frames, open log fire, black and white beamed building. Fine choice of beers and ales, food is very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit one a cold crisp evening

This was the last place we visited before we left York and im glad we did. really cosy place considering its meant to be haunted! We opted for the Sunday lunch and it was pretty damn amazing and massive as well, the yorkshire puddings were like muffins. good value for money friendly staff

Visited this pub on a girlie weekend in York. We were intending to attend a music event billed to be in the pub from 8:00 but by 9:00 there was no sign of this, so we left. We ordered dinner, but only just; be warned this is not a pub that caters for those on diets! With the kitchen closing... More

Been here before and it had had a lovely atmosphere so was happy to go again, but won't be repeating it after this time. I am not a connoisseur of wine, however I do understand the difference between a dreadful wine and a palatable wine and this one was, sadly, the former. My partner asked for it to exchanged and... Beautiful old black and white building. Very atmospheric and plenty bits and bobs to be looking at while you enjoy a beer! In contrast outside there is a modern beer garden. Lovely place.

We came to the Swan to have drinks in one of York's oldest (and reportedly most haunted) pubs. We ended up staying for a performance of bluegrass music from musicians from York and Nashville. Totally unexpected but lots of fun with an enthusiastic audience.

Yet again, for the third year running we booked the upstairs room for our annual gathering. The food was lovely as always and the portions are huge. I had the pigeon pie. Mouth watering. Some of our group were so full they could not finish their meals. Really nice pint of guinness in this pub. The staff are very friendly... More
