About
Stretch your legs and your mind with Openworld Quests! An interactive walking puzzle quest that'll take you into the heart of York. Start in the city with nothing but your team and a phone. Navigate the route by solving puzzles using strategy, creativity and logic. Each correct answer unlocks the next stage of the quest! The debut game - The Ghost Quest - takes approximately two hours and is suitable for wheelchair users and buggies, and players aged 8yrs+. It makes the perfect family activity, team building exercise, first date, or entertainment for guests! "The clues were great and the writing was very funny, we laughed a lot. We saw so much of York; things that we have walked past many times but never noticed. It’s a great way to see something of the city, bits that you don’t know are there, and learn a bit of history at the same time." - Karen Hayward "A really fun way to explore the beautiful area around York Minster, it made us really look at our surroundings! A super mix of ghost stories and great humour, we loved the fitting end to our quest too!" - Karen Skeel

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good fun and about right length. Interesting facts found on route that we would have missed otherwise. All stops were helpful and knowledgeable of quest so no embarrassing moments. Really enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed the puzzles. Some weren't super clear and we were in a bit of a rush so relied on the clues which were helpful.
You can probably do it in 2 hours if you rush about, but I would suggest you take your time and enjoy the city.

Great concept. Do at your own pace and even had time for a few pints along the way. Packed with history and stories. We both loved it especially the treat at the end!

Really good fun, I'm local and I learnt new things about this city. Really different from other tours I've done, as your not spoonfed info, but discover it as you go. Great for families, friends, and couples!

What a fantastic way to experience York! We went as a group where some were familiar with York, some visiting for the first time and we all agreed that is was such a unique and enjoyable way to spend time in the city. The quest takes you through both mainstream and less well trodden sites and tells some of the less common stories of York. Overall the quest takes about two hours but with plenty of options to dictate your own pace. A great day out and accessible for a wide variety of age groups. A great time out!

We completed the Ghost Quest alongside our furry friend; I loved how inclusive the quest was, both for humans and dogs alike. This is a bit like an escape room, though it's more accessible for all abilities 🥰 Great fun and we learnt some interesting history along the way. I would particularly recommend the Ghost Quest York to anyone visiting the city, especially as a dog friendly activity, which are otherwise few and far between! 🐶

A good way to discover the hidden places in York - a prize and a nice pint to finish.
Some good scary stories and a hidden chapel in the shambles

This was a great way to explore York, and learn about the city along the way. It's like an escape room and sightseeing tour rolled into one! We completed the quest as a group of four friends, and it was perfectly engaging and fun for the whole group. The last stop was at a cosy local pub, so you can drink to your success at the end.
