    Super, festive day.
Absolutely fantastic day out. We went for the Christmas event and it was brilliant. Staff all super friendly and helpful. Crafts, hot chocolate cones, and treasure trails too. The Father Christmas was excellent. Families went in one at a time and got time with him on their own. Spoke to the children and adults and my ten year old got a really thoughtful, age appropriate gift. Felt very special and well thought out. Really appreciated the words said and that everyone was included too. We laughed at the elf and grinch and thoroughly enjoyed the day. We've actually been three times this year now, and love it more each time. The birds are great and plenty of chance to handle them, with knowledgeable volunteers on hand to support. We will be back. Thanks!

    Amazing Santa experience
Amazing Santa experience - best Santa EVER. No rushing in and out and great with the children (i had 5 with me aged 18mth to 9). Best Elves (Elf Noelle was so professional and fab with the kids l) and Grinch very funny and the volunteers all enter into the Christmas experience making it so special for the children. I cannot recommend it high enough. Even the gifts were not the usual cheap tat. As its a walk round experience, play park, trampolines, throwing balls to knock down penguins, Mrs Clause shed, Scrooge shed and bird flying display etc we could stay as longer as we wanted and as most of it was inside the weather was not an issue. The cafe was also reasonably priced. Thank you all for making it an amazing outing.

    6 stars out of 5!!!
There wasn’t an option for 6 stars!!! Wow wow wow, we loved the Christmas experience…. We loved Halloween one, but this was even better!! So much to do and value for money…. Best Santa experience we have been to as well! What makes this so good is the staff!! They really own it and make sure everyone is having fun, and care about their job!! Thankyou, the campbell family really enjoyed themselves today!!

    Excellent visit
Excellent visit, the staff are all relaxed and friendly; the hawk walk with Charlie (and another whose name I've forgotten - sorry) was great fun and very informative. Having a Harris Hawk flying onto your arm is an experience to have! Walking round the enclosure after, I was invited to see some of the other birds flying. I'd recommend it to anyone, and will definitely be back.

    Pleasantly surprised
Visited for the first time via a free ticket from the hotel next door. Thought we would be there 10 minutes! Fantastic range of birds and very friendly staff. The talk and demonstration was fantastic and, althiough we had to leave before the end, we were still there for 2.5 hours. Staff - brilliant and well wort a visit.

    A gem :)
I took my friend for an owl experience today. I was expecting it to be good having taken my husband for a hawk walk a couple of years ago. But today, Michael and the team, surpassed themselves. My friend loves owl and she got to hold and stroke about 6 owls, all while learning so much about them and other birds of prey from the extremely knowledgable Michael. She even got the fly several owls AND hold an eagle (with support from the equally lovely George). This is an absolute gem of a place.

Great experience and service. High recommend.
Fantastic experience. Booked a 1to1 experience for my husband so spent the day with Charlie, a very knowledgeable 15yr old volunteer! Outstanding service, so much information. Stunning birds, I wasn't keen on birds but ended up handling them all. Watched very informative flying sessions, and had a hawk walk in the trees. What a day!! HIghly recommended!! We will definitely be back!

    Fabulous!
Fabulous little place which is well worth a visit. This centre has a brilliant range of beautiful birds, all very well cared for. The flying demonstration and getting to hold a bird was great and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and go above and beyond to visitors. We spent a few hours here so also excellent value for money! Cute little on-site cafe and plenty for children to see and do: I imagine this would be a nice place to visit in the summer if you have children.

    a proper attraction
This is quite hard to find. Once you turn off the main road, you have to go towards the hotel area, go round the back and park before walking through the cut way with no signs until you start down the path. However we had a really good time, as there were only 6 of us to do the flying of the birds. There is a really wide variety of birds including raptors and vultures here, as well as owls which are part of the experience. We got to hold and fly a couple of owls, but the best bit of the experience was holding a fully grown golden eagle, which weighs a lot more on your arm then you think! I would suggest spending about 3 hours here, its a great half day out. The staff are really helpful and knowledgable. All in all a value for money experience.

    Fantastic day
What a great time we had. We walked around with our hot chocolate looking and reading about all the birds. We then went into a large tent where they did a display. Different birds were brought in from owls to a golden Eagle. Everyone was allowed to wear the glove and hold the birds. Staff are very knowledgeable, and great at telling you facts and interesting things about them. Staff were very approachable and funny. We put a donation in at the end, as we were there for over 2 hours

We got our daughter an owl experience for her birthday, it was fantastic she absolutely loved it. The chaps who did our experience Michael and Charlie were fantastic, very knowledgeable and the passion they had for what they did shone through!
Upon arrival, we got a lovely warm welcome from everyone at the centre.
Before the experience we walked around, it was beautiful to see such gorgeous birds, there was plenty to do for everyone.
Thank you for such a wonderful time.

My wife and I had an absolutely great time at the York Bird of Prey centre. From my first enquiry into booking tickets for the owl experience and hawk walk communication with the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and when we had to delay our initial visit due to a medical emergency they were more than understanding and allowed us to rebook for a later date.

Once we arrived we were warmly welcomed and were given a tour of the facility by our very experienced handler, Chris. It was immediately evident everyone at the centre is very passionate about the birds and take great care of them and we learned a great deal about the animals, their traits, training, history of birds of prey and their care.

Neither of us had done any handling of birds of prey before but Chris made us feel very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed it, getting to handle and fly many owls of all kinds as well as a Harris Hawk on our Hawk walk which was great fun.

It really is a great centre and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be visiting again in the future with the rest of our family.

We visited the York Bird of Prey Centre today to do a hawk walk as a family group of four. We were looked after by Michael but all the staff we spoke to were pleasant and helpful and the booking process was simple. The hawk walk was a real joy and we would highly recommend. Michael made it really enjoyable, he was very kind and enthusiastic and our daughter in particular absolutely loved it. It was also really worthwhile going to the display beforehand where we were able to hold lots of the birds including a golden eagle - that was unexpected! This place is well worth a visit and if you have time, a hawk walk is a brilliant way to get more hands on. The feeling of a Harris Hawk landing on your arm is really special. Highly recommended and thank you to Michael for making it a really special day out.
Tip - wrap up cosy and wear some old shoes that you don’t mind getting a little muddy.

Have been twice now and thoroughly enjoy this place. The staff are fantastic and knowledgeable, the birds are amazing it’s so good to see them so close. Like that most of them are allowed to fly free at various times. It’s a really great and interesting place to visit.

This Centre is exceptional for the range of birds, the enthusiasm and knowedge of the staff and volunteers and the interactive experience with visitors. Unlike other similar Centres, All birds are allowed to free fly and they are very well cared for. The Centre is located to the rear of Burn Hall Hotel off the A19 on the Huby road so easily accessible. The cafe provides a good range of simple food. Highly recommended

We received 2 complimentary passes from the Hotel we were staying at and so had no great expectations of the centre.
Well we were wrong, there was an excellent selection of different birds of prey from Owls to eagles, and some we had never heard of.
The.staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and caring of their birds.
We finished off with a very interesting and interactive flying display, all in all an excellent visit

Wow what an experience! We have been to a few Bird of prey centres and this place is just amazing I don't think you will ever find another like it. Everyone is so knowledgeable and you can tell they all love what they do and take good care of their birds.
We had tickets for the day on Sunday and that itself was amazing and so hands on, but than had a falconry experience the next day with Michael and he just made our day. And would highly recommend the hawk walk ! We have both come away with more knowledge and definitely got in plenty of experience. Thank you Michael we both appreciate how much you showed and taught us today !

Excellent day out for the Halloween Experience on Saturday. They had gone above and beyond to create a fabulous atmosphere. The Witch and the Evil lady were brilliant. As good as professional actors. (which may husband thought they were) The Grandchildren loved it as well!

Absolutely brilliant, we went for Halloween and the effort made by the staff was just phenomenal. We particularly loved meeting maleficent, mystic caz (who got our moody pre-teenager to laugh) and doing spells with the wizard, oh and most importantly meeting some beautiful creatures and learning more about them. Fantastic friendly spooky staff, a great few hours out. Thank you!
