About
Multi award winning tour. Tours operate at 6.30pm Wednesday to Saturday. Extra times during peak seasons. Please check the website for more information. We meet outside the front of St Michaels Le Belfrey Church which is next to the Minster and Guy Fawkes Inn. Please do not arrive without a ticket. This is a prebooked tour only. The stories can be dark and macabre therfore rated PG and not recommended for under 8's. Your guide will take you through York's most historic streets and tell you of its dark history and ghostly past. Unless the weather is considered extreme or dangerous then tours will go on regardless of the weather so bring a brolly and wrap up warm! Wheelchair accessible and well behaved dogs are welcome.

Loved every second . We had Dan as our guide , he was informative , funny and very welcoming . Just made our anniversary weekend , we come to York every year this is the first time we booked on to a ghost tour so glad we chose shadows of York. Made our stay more historical as we were then able to go check out the places he had mentioned . Fantastic factual , spooky & historical and so much fun . Top bloke Dan . We had a wonderful tour with the owner Mackenzie. The tour was fantastic, it was cold and damp which added to the atmosphere and we appreciate Mackenzie keeping the tour on with the dreadful weather. 😀 Her ability of telling a story so well you feel the chills down your spine. (Although this could of been the cold weather.) Highly recommended to anybody who likes history and the spookier side of York.

This is the second time we've done the ghost walk, we enjoyed it that much last year we wanted to do it again this year! We were hoping it was going to be Dan again and we're glad to say it was! It's just so interesting and the way he tells the stories is just amazing! Thank you so much again. I'm sure we'll be back!

Had a very fun and spooktacular tour with the Awesome Dan on Halloween. Wow such an amazing story teller and keeps everyone engaged in the stories . He's very knowledgeable and very friendly. I learned so much from the stories some things I'd never heard before. Thank you Dan 👻

We toured with Dan November 2023 with our daughters aged 8 and 11. He was really engaging and a great storyteller. Some stories quite dark bjt the kids took it in their stride but plenty of humour injected and lots of information and facts about York. We really enjoyed ourselves- thank you!

We loved this tour. More historic than scary. The ghost stories are suitable for kiddies as not scary. Be prepared to walkouts! Josh, our guide, was engaging, informative. Kept a good pace, answered questions. Was funny and kept everyone entertained. You would not know he was new to this. Highly recommend this walking tour, you get to see lots of hidden treasures. Great ots not too big a group either. Would di again

What a great find this tour was. Josh is a star. Great big personality with great big ghostly tales of York. Never a dull moment on the trip. Took an hour and a half starting and ending just by York Minster. He said he was new to it but he was so enthusiastic and entertaining I could’ve sworn he’d been doing this for years. Engaged with everyone on the tour and made sure we were all safe from cyclists and cars where necessary. Although I’ve done it now and know the stories I’d happily go on the trip again next time I’m here.

Yes I do. Usually Thursday, Friday and Saturdays, but I do private tours as well which is subject to availability so if you want a private tour then please book in advance. Otherwise look out for tickets when they come available.
I plan to do autumns ticket rota in June. Omjust because I am awaiting lock down news and rather than sell loafs of tickets and have to refund them all again I have left everything alone for now. But do pop back to check in June.

Hello Tina. Yes of course. All you do is visit the website (trip advisor won't let me post the site but you can find it on here or type in shadows of York and it will come) then click tickets, select how many people you want and which date and the rest is easy. Tour starts at 6.45om on that day.

Hello and thank you for your enquiry.
Sadly I am not available tonight but there is a tour tomorrow night at 8pm. Tour times and dates vary but they are mostly Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays. There is some more weekdays available too but just pop on the website via the ticket section to check. To book your ticket slot please go to the website. Private tours are also available most nights.
