Multi award winning tour. Tours operate at 6.30pm everyday except Tuesdays and Sundays. Extra times during peak seasons. Please check the website for more information. We meet outside the front of St Michaels Le Belfrey Church which is next to the Minster and Guy Fawkes Inn. Please do not arrive without a ticket. This is a pre-booked tour only. The stories can be dark and macabre and therefore rated PG and not recommended for under 8's. Your guide will take you through York's most historic streets and tell you of its dark history and ghostly past. Unless the weather is considered extreme or dangerous then tours will go on regardless of the weather so bring a brolly and wrap up warm! Wheelchair accessible and well behaved dogs are welcome.

This is really entertaining- a mix of ghosts and dark history of York thrown in. Mackenzie is very knowledgeable and friendly. We took our 8 year old daughter who now also wants to be a ghost tour host! The time went very quickly. I stayed in Bar Convent when l first came to York in 1988 on a school trip - so glad l didn't know then what l know now....

Have lived in York all my life and had never done one of the ghost walks. We chose this one as the reviews were excellent … we were not disappointed! Dan, the guide,was fab! He made all the stories so interesting and informative as well throwing in a bit of drama! Would definitely recommend. Thank you

Excellent tour, even the rain didn't dampen the evening! Very good tour, informative on Ghosts and haunting, but also general history of York.
Nice for it to be a small group, feel more focused and good length of time for the tour with interesting facts.

Our guide was with Josh. What a great time! Excellent tour guide, full of facts, interesting and funny. Great stories and great tour! Highly recommend. Saw other tours and had far too many people! For us, shadows of York is just the best! Don’t hesitate to book with these guys. Thank you Josh for a brilliant night, will recommend to friends.

We had a wonderful tour. Very informative and entertaining. Also great history on ghosts around York.

Mack is a fantastic tour guide. With fabulous interaction the difference with Mack is it is so personal not just some tour guide plodding around York rambling on about the city's history. No Mack roll plays the tour making it so unique. She is a credit to the city

The real beauty of a good ghost story is the way it's told. That's the key. York is blessed to have such a rich history of things that go bump in the night and is equally blessed to have Mackenzie, with all her knowledge, obvious passion and incredibly engaging delivery bringing these stories to life. I have an interest in spooky things but have always felt let down by ghost walks and tours in the past but having seen Mackenzie's live streams on social media, I couldn't wait to get to York and take a tour of the city with her. And it was all I had hoped it would be . Absolutely fantastic. It's a must. Add it to your to-do list. You won't be disappointed.

Very entertaining tour of York that took us to many different places across the city that we wouldn't have otherwise been to. The stories were gripping and well told. Overall, my boyfriend and I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend to others.

Yes I do. Usually Thursday, Friday and Saturdays, but I do private tours as well which is subject to availability so if you want a private tour then please book in advance. Otherwise look out for tickets when they come available.
I plan to do autumns ticket rota in June. Omjust because I am awaiting lock down news and rather than sell loafs of tickets and have to refund them all again I have left everything alone for now. But do pop back to check in June.

Hello Tina. Yes of course. All you do is visit the website (trip advisor won't let me post the site but you can find it on here or type in shadows of York and it will come) then click tickets, select how many people you want and which date and the rest is easy. Tour starts at 6.45om on that day.

Sadly I am not available tonight but there is a tour tomorrow night at 8pm. Tour times and dates vary but they are mostly Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays. There is some more weekdays available too but just pop on the website via the ticket section to check. To book your ticket slot please go to the website. Private tours are also available most nights.
