Sweet life sweet shop gets top marks.
Would like to say a big thank you to the lady in the sweet shop sorry didn’t catch her name but she was the owner I believe. What fabulous service both myself and my husband received when we visited. She put together a great selection of sweets for us as a gift for a friend. Her knowledge of the sweets and ingredients was amazing. Really reasonable price and a massive selection. An absolute gem of a find. We will be visiting again very soon. Thank you

    Well worth a visit
We moored on the canal about 15min walk to the shopping village, hoping to get breakfast and not being too sure what to expect from the shops. We had a lovely breakfast in 1867, (restaurant, not year), and then had a wander round the shops. We bought a nice glass globe lamp for our hallway and a large framed print of a leopard which the gallery wrapped very well for us as it had to withstand a journey back to Yorkshire. The walk back to the canal was therefore quite interesting ! Overall well worth a visit.

Upscale Independent Retail Shops in a Lovely Setting
My wife & I stopped at Heart of the Shires for a Saturday lunch and curiosity shopping on our way to North Wales. The shops are a collection of independently owned businesses offering upscale clothing & home goods & gift items. The barn conversion-style complex is pleasantly constructed & decorated, and plenty of free parking makes the Village an even more attractive destination. The layout of the buildings makes for easy access & browsing in the shops, though the upstairs businesses may be difficult for some shoppers to get to. Look closely for the road signs as you approach the east side entrance along the A5, as our sat nav system identified a location a bit further to the north in this rural area of Northamptonshire.

This experience would be improved if I wasn’t seated in a very draughty , cold part of the cafe. Food was reasonable, but expensive. I had a bagel. With crisps and a tonic water. Nearly £20. Nothing more than a sandwich really. Put me off bagels for life. Wouldn’t rush back.

We visited here in the way home from the Belfry. A nice choice of independent shops selling many different wares - great for browsing an bought a few small bits.
Tried to get to the coffee house - but not full but no availability , and no clear system in place for later.

Worth a visit , but take a flask

Usually I can't fault this shopping village, but this time there was no heating in hardly any of the shops and the restaurant was so cold. We asked for it to be put on, but it never was. They've also changed the menu and it isn't as good.
