About
Welcome to the Albion Brewery Bar, the most unusual new bar and venue in town. We are open from 12 everyday for fine ales, cider, lager, wines & spirits including Kingswell Gin distilled in the brewery. Our 8 hand pumps of cask ale feature Phipps, Hoggleys and a revolving guest ale. We have added an oak and glass partition between the bar and brewery so customers can view the brewing process as they drink and eat. Each day will bring a cabaret of mashing, sparging, racking and cleaning as Phipps staff go about their business of creating our beers. Almost all the bar's fittings are reclaimed with many coming from old closed Phipps pubs. Over the foyer there are new toilets including Disabled. We have kept the space true to its origins as a working brewhouse so you can drink ale with the smallest carbon footprint in the county but the biggest taste and the longest history. Hot food is available Wednesday to Sunday afternoon. There will be gigs and events as advertised.

Amazing Sunday roast!!!
Mar 2020 • Friends
Been a number of times historically for a great local Ale, but have been 3 times recently for Sunday lunch, every time exceptional, so tasty especially the chicken option, my partner is a vegan and loves the mushroom wellington option they do, also great value, best roast I can remember from an independant.

Always great beer, also now great food!
Mar 2020 • Friends
We have been coming for years, especially with friends and family who like their beer as the beer brewed on site is the best I've had anywhere and it's something local in Northampton we can be proud of and show off. Very highly recommended if you like your ales or gins as they also make them on site. We did the tour a few years ago and it was really interesting and informative. Not sure exactly how long new food menu has been around but we had some in December and in March and both times we've been amazed how good the food is, especially for the price and portion size. The chips and onions rings are incredible with a pint of red star. Also really high quality main meals and tapas options if you are hungry. Also a shout out for the staff who are always really friendly and helpful. Whenever the people we bring aren't sure what they want they take the time to give great advice and provide tasters. It's a hidden gem in Northampton as it doesn't look much from the outside so easily missed if you don't know about it.

Brewery Tour - makes brewing come alive
Mar 2020
Great stories unfold on this tour. I had been in the Pub as a customer before but did not realise that I had been actually walking on Northampton brewing history. If you like finding out about History and not just of brewing but of Northampton Town this is for you. Alaric one of the Directors did the tour and his passion and his enthusiasm simply shines out - from the beer that saved us in the second world war via Phipps claret colour and looking into a real King's well. I had to dash off after the tour but will return to try Stingo and Ratliffes stout.

Excellent Sunday lunch
Apr 2017
Visited Albion Brewery Bar at Phipps NBC brewery in Kingswell Street on Sunday 23rd December. We were a group of eight all wanting a last minute Sunday lunch. I have been to this bar before, just for drinks, but found it felt a little ‘hippy’ and it was too popular & crowded for my liking. There isn’t much in the way of comfort as the table and chairs are very basic. So I found myself here, somewhat reluctantly. My daughter has been recently and was raving about their Sunday lunch, So that’s why we ended up here. We arrived having phoned ahead 45-60 minutes before. Bearing in mind it is Christmas time, we didn’t think we would stand much chance of getting in. Immediately, I was nervous. The pub was quiet, they had room for 8 to eat last minute.... so straight away I was thinking this is going to be bad, otherwise they would be fully booked, surely. How wrong could I have been?(!) The staff were so lovely. We placed our orders with the waitress and then went up to the bar to pay at a point that was convenient for us. I paid straight away while others paid after eating. One of our party, ordered roast pork, another had vegetarian pie and the other six ordered the roast sirloin of beef. I excepted the offer of a smaller portion, which turned out to be plenty for me, but for those of you with a larger appetite, you may prefer choosing the normal size meal. To be fair, apart from the amount of meat, I didn’t see any difference in the size of the meal. The larger portions had two good, thick slices (I want to call them slabs) of meat, the smaller meal had one slice, which was plenty. Also the larger meals may have had more roast potatoes. My word, the food was delicious. The gravy was really tasty rich and gorgeous. The meat was tender & flavourful, and the vegetables were spot-on. We even had one pig in blanket and stuffing added to all 7 meat meals. The meal was almost perfection. The only negative comment from two of our party, was the fact they found the gravy a little salty, but this will depend on your taste. I could see what they meant but for me it was still delicious, enough to score five stars! This little bar has many ‘faces’, offering; • a quiet Sunday lunch • a busy vibrant bar often offering entertainment in the form of bands • great locally brewed beers • Brewery tours Part of me is reluctant to share this information, as I know I will be dining here for Sunday lunch on a regular basis from now on and want to keep this little gem to myself.

My partner had the beef and I had the vegan option. We both agreed it was absolutely superb! Well presented & full of flavour. Nice cosy relaxed atmosphere. Really friendly staff who were very accommodating. Can’t wait to go back!

Unbelievable
Nov 2019 • Couples
Popped in on Sunday for a roast dinner. Most amazing roast dinner I have ever eaten in a pub. Sirloin of beef melted in the mouth, plenty of veg and a Yorkshire pudding that was actually tasty, unlike some of the cardboard offerings I have found in other establishments. The gravy needs a review on it's own, delicious! Only priced at £10. Service was excellent. Thank you so much to John Macaninch and his team
