The site itself is ok but there are many better options examples of Roman remains elsewhere. But the museum is excellent and would be worth a visit in its own right.

Not a big site but well worth the visit Only 15 minutes walk from the George Hotel. Great collection of Roman carved stone work.

Awesome setting with an array of Roman remains. Having a wander around the 2000 year old settlement was brilliant.

Went with a tourist guide so this made it all the more interesting but it was a great visit. There is plenty to see although all foundations only and it all wants explaining to appreciate it all fully. The location and area is spectacular and...More

We visited Chesters because it was local to where we were staying and we could build the visit into a walk. We walked from our holiday accommodation in Warden along the cycle path to Hexham, (about an hour). Having stopped for tea and cake in...More

The Hadrian's Wall path runs along the front of the fort so we visited while walking the wall last summer as it is also a passport stamping station. It is the site where John Clayton began his excavations of the wall. We saw the remains...More

Great little place, in a beautiful location. Learn about old roman life and in barracks and Roman baths- worth a visit if in the area and English heritage member as free entry otherwise £7-8 for an adult to get in.

An amazing location and really good interesting ruins. Overall site is reasonably level but no paths so it's better when the grass is dry. Bath house is really good and has a great view of river. One of the best Roman sites in the area.

A bit late replying, but I'd choose Chesters for the reasons given above. As well as being beautiful and sheltered, the site museum is full (and I mean full!) of wonderful sculptures that are worth the visit alone. Another... More
