Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very enjoyable first visit to scenic, welcoming Hexham. Everything close at hand. Paddock ticket all you need at £12. Mixture of well-known and not so well known trainers and jockeys. Excellent viewing of the action happening below you. Long left hand uphill bend between last two seems to sort the result with run in after the last just over 1/2F.

Great course with lovely views, seems to be a really decent crowd of people going to this meeting, staff were friendly and talkative, love how they have litter pickers constantly keeping the place clean even though there are enough bins for people to put their rubbish in, the place is immaculate 👏

Traveled up from Wales staying overnight in St Bees Cumbria , then catching the train to Hexham . Trip was off to a bad start on arriving at Hexham with the courtesy bus being full and leaving around 50 race goers stranded and no taxis to be seen . A quick walk into town and a lovely local chap drove us to the course , refusing any payment . The racecourse staff were wonderful , the views to die for , the paddock and winners enclosure superbly intimate. Absolutely a great days racing . Despite being a lovely sunny day the course is very exposed and high up. Wrap up warm .

I’d ventured up to the North for two days racing. Hexham on Wednesday and Newcastle on Thursday.
To hear that Hexham had been cancelled on Wednesday morning was very hard to believe.
The excuse was that the divots were filled by a mixture that froze!
For one I was sceptical about their decision, so rightly or wrongly I decided to go to the track and walk the entire course for myself.
The course was immaculate, perfect racing ground. The divots had been filled, and it certainly was a schoolboy error by the clerk of the course.
I’m sure he will defend his decision, but as we are now nearing 2023, there are divot fillings that don’t freeze that you can purchase, or indeed mix yourself!!. For heavens sake we’re in December, frosts are going to happen.
The clerk of the course is solely to blame for this unnecessary cancellation.
Let’s hope he’s not in control next year.

This was not an unnecessary cancellation as the divots were still frozen at 1.30 in the afternoon, not sure where you were walking. A frozen divot could have put the eye out on a horse or jockey and their welfare is paramount. Why would we cancel if it was at all possible to race, we had to refund everyone and there is no insurance for cancellations. James Armstrong is one of the most experienced Clerks of the Course in the country and we sincerely hope he is in charge here for many years to ensure safe racing.

Fabulous first visit to this excellent course. Free coach from station to track and back a big bonus as it's isolated.
Classic country track with a mish mash of facilities being employed as best they can with Covid demands.
I had club ticket which has a nice bar with ultra warm radiators a major bonus.
Lovely setting and staff were as helpful and friendly as you could hope for.
I'll be back.
An easy must do recommendation.

Kind Regards from the management team. Just to point out to others that there are two ladies showers and two gents just incase someone thinks we only have two in total.

Campsite Review : stayed here four nights in total. It was a quiet / clean / well kept racecourse site. Stayed over a weekend when it did get busy. There were a few youngsters running around playing but that's what camping's all about to me - they are mostly safe on a campsite, and getting loads of fresh air. All was quiet by just after 9pm.
Plus points : the views are lovely. There's a circular walk to the local pub, and a walk into town only takes 45 - 50 minutes (longer on the way back up). We were shown to our pitches by our host, who was always helpful and friendly. I say helpful as we had an issue with our motorhome, and he leant us a stepladder / found us a number for the nearest motorhome dealer / found us pitches (four four nights rather than the expected two as we didn't want to drive the van until the part was available). Also, the loo / shower / laundry block is fairly new which is great.
Slightly negative point (and this may relate to covid rules) - the mops for the showers could do with cleaning, and have clean water / spray to help sanitise the shower trays.
We would definitely return as it's a good value site, and they kept the loos and showers open when the site re-opened whereas others avoided the risk.
