My husband and I booked the Princess Bride Tour on Sept. 4, 2022 and couldn’t have been happier! It was our first visit to the UK and we have never done any kind of private tour before. Mark was extremely flexible and helpful when we were booking and planning our transportation for the tour. The tour itself covered many of the movie locations plus many other points of interest throughout the countryside. Mark has done extensive research to find the exact locations and is immensely knowledgeable about the entire area. We never felt rushed at any of the sites and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with him! We highly recommend Live For The Hills for any kind of tour that is offered.

I went on the Pride and Prejudice tour, as well as the Highlights Tour. I was looking for a way to explore Peak District a bit as well as to visit multiple sites used in Pride and Prejudice adaptations. Without a car this is by far the best option, especially if you have limited time. Both tours with Mark were excellent. He is punctual, professional, friendly and very accommodating to what you want to see the most. He is very knowledgeable about the area and shares interesting tidbits. Highly recommended!

Visiting the pride and prejudice locations had been a dream for 15 years, so expectations were high, yet Mark topped all our expectations. Since Haddon Hall was closed he kindly offered to show us belton house as an alternative which was even better than the original plan. We were extremely lucky since we went in march and stayed dry, because Mark was able to adjust the itinerary according to the weather.

From our conversations in the car you can definitely feel what a kind and generous person he is.
We can't wait to visit some other film location outside of the peak district in the south, and if it was up to us we would love to have Mark as our guide again.

Thank you so much for the once in a live time experience!!

We treated ourselves to a day out with our guide Mark, whilst staying in Derbyshire to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. It was a great choice to make, we really enjoyed the day. From the initial booking online, communication and organisation was great. We were picked up from our cottage promptly and had a full itinerary. We'd previously sent over a list of places we wanted to visit and Mark ensured we visited them all - and more! We never felt rushed, and learnt so much, and went to places via quiet back roads with glorious scenery. The day was full of info and humour and we got to see places we wouldn't have time to see on our own, certainly not in a day. Even our dog felt pampered! Mark's interests and passion for the area is clear, and his thoughtfulness in making sure we had a wonderful time was much appreciated. If you want to make the most of a day in this area with an expert, friendly and generous guide alongside you, we recommend this company! A day to remember and treasure. We will be back!

I was a bit worried planning two days of our trip based on a website and some online reviews, but I should not have worried. Our two days in the Peak District with Mark were the best and most shared part of the twelve days we spent in Scotland and England. The tour seemed like an extravagance, but it was the best money I spent on the entire trip. There was no way that I would have enjoyed the trip anywhere as much as I did if I had to drive, nor would my son and I have found or understood the significance of the places we hiked to without Mark’s knowledge of the area. From the explanation of the hermit’s cave with the elaborate carved crucifix near Haddon Hall to reassuring me on the gentle temperament of the Highland cows we had to pass on part of our hike close enough to pet to the location of all sorts of iconic filming locations, Mark was full of stories and local knowledge.

Mark responded quickly to emails and planned a personal itinerary for my teen son and myself based on mostly general comments on what we were interested in seeing. Mark picked us up at our hotel in York exactly on time, he was a great driver, exceptionally knowledgeable about the area, and followed up with the requested list of the places we visited during the our two days in the Peak District.

The first day we visited Haddon Hall - the only specific place my son really just had to see - and it did not disappoint. We spent the rest of the day in the southern part of the Peak District. The second day we spent most of our time hiking to different scenic spots in the northern part of the Peak District as the day was too beautiful to spend inside. I will have to come back in the future to visit Chatsworth and Lyme.

I can’t recommend Mark and Live for the Hills highly enough. Most people in the States don’t know anything about Derbyshire and the Peak District, but it is a beautiful place and wonderful change of pace from London and so many tourist spots. I will definitely be back!

Had a fabulous bespoke tour with Mark , doing a Pride & Prejudice location tour.
Communication with Mark from the offfset was efficient and he went above & beyond to ensure our stay in the Peak District was as good as it could be.
As well as an ongoing source of information regarding the history behind the places we visited, he also provided helpful information on other places to visit in Derbyshire as well as essential information such as good places to eat!
Highly recommend this tour company & would definitely use them again.

Our tour guide, Jackie, exceeded all expectations and catered to our every anticipated and unanticipated need—making this the most memorable day of our 10-day English/Scottish journey. She not only drove an extra hour to pick us up after an unbelievable train trip debacle but also got us to each location with careful speed and comfortable ease. Despite our limited time, we NEVER felt rushed and were able to have an amazing day that ended with a farmer’s market stop where we purchased delicious cheeses, crackers, quiches, chocolate, and a traditional Bakewell pudding made with puffed pastry, a layer of jam, and topped with almond pudding. After our leisurely hike up Stanage Edge with views of the moors on the right and spectacular vistas of the valley on the left, we had the best picnic of our lives before enjoying a picturesque walk back to the car. Thanks to both Mark and Jackie for a day we will never forget!

What an amazing day we had, we were lucky enough on our tour not only to get the company of Mark but also his lovely wife Jackie.
From pick up to drop off our day couldn't have been better, who would know it was possible to experience both tranquility and exhilaration within one tour.
Mark is incredibly knowledgeable but more importantly than that he is incredibly personable. We saw some of the very best that the Peak District has to offer and if you are a fan of a Ploughman's lunch, Mark certainly knows where to take you.

I booked the Pride and Prejudice tour with my friends and it was fantastic. We were able to pick the sights we wanted to see and Mark, our guide, was very knowledgeable. We even had to change our pick up location and start time at the last minute and Mark was extremely accommodating.
The weather took a turn for the worse but Mark was completely unfazed and led us on a nice adventure through it.
Then at the end showed us a great shop for fish and chips!
I wish we had booked Live for the Hills tours for our entire stay!
