Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Impossible to book skating lessons online and no phone number alternative. 'support' is non existent. For a 'National ice centre' it's appalling. General sessions are very limited and very crowded and not suitable for beginners so how the h do you learn.

Extremely disappointed in how unsafe this place is for beginners. My friends invited me there for the first time and I was shocked at how reckless some skaters were - going at extremely high speeds, drifting and skidding in all directions - despite a lot of staff “employed” to keep an eye out on the rink. My friend was hit by one of these punks so hard that he flipped, but his head on the ice and lost his front tooth! And no staff did anything about it. The culprit simply walked away and I had to push and ask the member of staff in the first aid room to record the incident! Absolutely unbelievable that this still happens nowadays. I will never go back - It was my first and last time there . please avoid if you care for your safety.

We booked a party here for 25/06/22 our host was Joe and I cannot put into words how absolutely amazing he was with everyone! The kids (and adults) had such a brilliant time skating and after in the subzero cafe. The food was really good and portion sizes were very generous. We cannot thank the arena and the staff any more for making our daughters birthday extra special!! Would recommend to everyone!!!

I've stopped going here now for public skate sessions - I got sick of skating in the same direction all the time because the staff wouldn't even entertain the suggestion of going clockwise instead.

Also there's now very few sessions which don't either have a tot's zone or huge groups of school kids which take up an inconsiderate amount of the ice (especially the schools mid-week).

The fact that customers have to pay for lockers is also ridiculous - it probably costs the rink more to pay the staff memeber to collect the tokens out of the lockers than it earns in revenue for the rink.

The shop also needs to get their act together with regard to skate sharpening. I've battled into the centre of Nottingham several times only to be told they can't do it on that day for one reason or another. How about posting on your website what days you can sharpen skates and stick to it and keep it updated? Or maybe when people call ahead especially and ask whether you're open, remember to tell them that you can't sharpen skates because you only have one staff memeber? You never know, you might get more business.

Couples
me and my girlfriend got there for the 6:30-7:30 skate on Wednesday the 16th and we asked these two members of staff who were sat on this table if this was where we pay and one of them said yes and the other girl said no, then her co worker said yes again and the girl still decided to say no, i looked at my girlfriend as if to say is she being serious. We are also students and showed our student ids and the girl was like “i’m not convinced this is you” and also said “this isn’t you this isn’t you” and she just looked at it for a while and carried on looking at us in a sly way. We are students and don’t have a lot of money and we decided to go as a treat and this ruined the whole experience and put us in a bad mood throughout the whole evening.

So the website is terrible the online booking is worse, rang the call centre and they don't deal with bookings, tell me how do you book ice sports here?.It's really gone down hill, five or six years ago it was really great but what a shame, clear they don't care anymore. Went to icesheffield instead more organised.

The ice centre was really good fun for myself and my friends. Really good price for students and staff was very friendly and helpful with skates and lockers etc. However it was a public skate on a Friday evening and it was incredibly busy. I wouldn’t go with children or people who are worried. There wasn’t much of the side to hold onto due to the amount of people and it was hard to navigate the rink with better skaters zigzagging between those less so.

Only half an hour on the ice for a two hour event we were forced to leave for the safety of ourselves and our children , far to many people on the ice , no steward control , people cutting in front of others, no room for skating and still people being allowed in and on the ice .
During which time I witnessed many incidents - thankfully nothing serious but a few close calls . The final decision to leave came when my children going around on a ride on were crashed into and sent flying on the ice . Upon leaving the ice I informed management who listened to my complaint and appeared sympathetic but said there was nothing they could do other than speak to the stewards - who clearly were just skating round the ring but not pulling anyone up for wrong doings . What should of been a festive treat for my family turned into a wasted 25 mile trip and being out of pocket.
Anyone thinking of going I would seriously think again .

Dangerous, no marshalling or challenging dangerous behaviours. Allowing trick skaters to claim whole corners so no one could go round. These people churned up the ice so it made it lethal for everyone else. People speed skating the wrong way round the rink, games of speed tag etc.
In all my time skating I’ve never seen a buggy allowed to be pushed round on the ice complete with changing bag. I have children myself - get a babysitter!! Absolutely mad and so dangerous. Amazed no one was seriously hurt.
I love a good time and a mess around but this was dangerous and we won’t be returning.
No management to speak to I was told hence my review. So disappointed.

Had my first ice skating lesson
Today surprised my self. Did a lot better than I thought. Went with mum. Had a private lesson just us two, as she said when I was little, once she has had surgery on her back she would go ice skating with us. Many operations later and I'm not so little now..she Is in a lot better situation than before. very frustrating it took emailing several people off the list of coaches having no reply. Then emailing the ice rink who was very helpful throughout the process. they found us cerys who did amazing job. Felt very comfortable. Relaxed coaching, as some people loose there patients with me a bit . sometimes takes me a while to get the hang of something. A lot better here on the ice than at Doncaster. And people have more awareness of whats going on the ice. Respectful and move out the way. The staff there seem nice aswell. It cost £30 a hour then the skating price £9.50 on top. Generally the coaches cost between 30 and 40 a hour for private session. After today I would love to take up ice skating properly its just the cost of it all and the 50 minute drive to get there. Dont know why they havent built one in Lincoln. But definitely going back for some more lessons. Really enjoyed myself.
