Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Now I fully admit I am not religious in any form, therefore what constitutes a church or a cathedral is a mystery to me, but I usually search out the cathedral’s in the Cities I am visiting because I am interested in their architecture, their grandeur and their history. Well this one hasn’t got much of each of those.
Firstly it’s a relatively new build, started in 1841, so there’s no great antiquity and searching out the great and the good English Knights of old who are buried within its walls is not an option here. And secondly it’s not that big or grand and I’ve seen parish churches more impressive than this one. At least one interesting fact was that on completion, the cathedral was the largest Catholic church built in England since the Reformation. However that mantle has moved to others since then, most noticeably Liverpool.
Yes there are some nice features and if you are passing, as we were, then pop in and take a look.
Am I being unfair? Well maybe but St Albans is my local cathedral and that’s my idea of a cathedral.

I was wandering around the city centre when I was in Nottingham and passed by Cathedral Church of St Barnabas. I was fortunate enough to attend mass as well. After mass, I explored the church and admired the structures within. Happy to be able to attend mass in this Catholic church.

I was struck by the wonderful stained glass window over the alter and the sense of lightness inside the building. If you are walking around nearby - and there are quite a few interesting things near to you - see if you can find the old city walls, the Park tunnel, the site where King Charles raised his Standard, Nottingham Castle and of course the statue of Robin Hood!

We visited the cathedral only very briefly this morning. We didn't stay long as we felt we were intruding as there were lots of church officials at the front, singing or holding a meeting. No one was at the entrance so we didn't get to ask if we could really visit.

However I did like the Holy ambience. The welcome signs in many languages at the entrance were beautiful and delicate.

Cathedral since 1850. Lovely painted walls, pillars and ceiling and unusually coloured green organ. Some stained glass. All worth a quick look.

Pleasant 19th-century church about a 5-minute walk from the main square in Nottingham. Worth popping in if you find yourself nearby.

RC Cathedral in Nottingham, the Bishop’s seat in Nottingham. Lovely building designed by Augustus Welby Pugin. Refurbished several years ago and is very well worth a visit, regardless of denomination. Sang there with a choir and the acoustics are superb.

Quiet and beautiful. The spaces and the lighting invite prayer... Lots of interest to see too. Obviously a church much loved and much used.

An impressive church and pretty surroundings despite its busy setting, the inside is pretty - typically roman catholic.
