Welcome to the Trent Navigation on Meadow Lane. Music is free 3 Nights a week with an eclectic policy incorporating blues, folk, Irish, rock, indie, ska and much more. Live sport is shown in HD on four 42" screens.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I hope this review finds you well , although I must admit, my purpose in writing is to express my deep disappointment and concern about an incident that occurred at the Trent Navigation following the Remembrance Sunday ceremony on November 12th
I, along with five other veterans who have collectively served in various capacities, including Iraq, Afghanistan, the Congo, the Falklands conflict, Northern Ireland, Borneo, and Malaya, visited your establishment for a drink and a meal. Our ages range from 49 to 82, and we are all well-mannered individuals.
The incident in question occurred when the 82-year-old veteran among us, after ordering food and in the spirit of camaraderie, made a light-hearted comment to the lady behind the bar about taking her out for a meal. This comment was intended purely in jest, and everyone present was in good spirits.
To our surprise later, we were abruptly refused service and asked to leave the premises based on that harmless comment. At that moment, we were not aware that the 82-year-old veteran's remark had caused any distress. Given the opportunity, we would have promptly addressed the situation to avoid any discomfort.
The manager and the team's repeated insistence for us to leave left us bewildered and deeply disappointed. This incident, especially considering it occurred on Remembrance Sunday, left us feeling disrespected and unfairly treated.
As veterans who have dedicated our lives in service to our country, the lack of understanding and compassion exhibited by your team is disheartening. We understand the importance of maintaining a comfortable atmosphere in your establishment, but the approach taken was disproportionate to the situation, and we believe it was an unjust reaction.
I urge you to investigate this matter thoroughly and reevaluate the actions of your team on that day. We would appreciate an acknowledgment of this complaint and your commitment to ensuring that such incidents do not occur in the future, especially on occasions as significant as Remembrance Sunday.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that you will address our concerns promptly and appropriately.

Found this place accidentally and glad we went in! As we were visiting Nottingham, thought it was a good idea to have a little nosey around Notts County ground and came across this pub. Popped in for a swift one; were met by lovely staff!
The guy that served us was on his first shift but he was very polite and we were more than happy with the service he provided!
We sat out back and the garden had a large screen to watch matches etc. on which was a real good touch!
Would definitely go back given the chance. Facilities were clean and you could tell it was a well looked after pub.

Always popped in here to watch sports and popped by to one of their summer music events but popped in on one of the ashes Sunday games and had to try the famous roasts belly pork with seasonal veg which will be different depending on the season you can always ask and the team will be happy to advise. The plate is not stacked to high but well presented with the meat vegetables at the side of the plate homemade Yorkshire pud stuffing on a bed of red cabbage absolutely bliss, if ever you are looking for a great tasting Sunday roast head on down here you will not be disappointed.

I came here to watch the football and it’s a great place for this. There’s a huge screen in the yard under a shelter. There’s an outdoor bar and, like the indoor one, there was an army of staff to serve drinks. This made for a quick and efficient service. The drinks prices were very middle of the road. The food selection was varied, delicious and a generous portion, which made it worth the higher-end price range on mains. The venue was very spacious despite the popularity with punters who also made for a fantastic atmosphere that staff reflected in their enthusiasm. All in all it was a great afternoon that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a pub and live sport.

Are dogs allowed in the bar area?

To be honest I have never seen any dogs when I have been there but there is a lovely open ‘garden’ type area at back that I think would be suitable to take dogs if not allowed inside.
