- Collette SUnited Kingdom8 contributionsWhat a gem!The Lion at Basford is one of those places that has an eclectic mix of clientele.. All of the staff are friendly, approachable, and down to earth. We went for food. The menu mainly specialises in burgers, however other small meals are available. There is a wide range of burgers to choose from, including a vegetarian/vegan range. The Lion is a proper pub, with a very welcoming atmosphere.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 30 December 2022
- Tom WDerby, United Kingdom102 contributionsA favourite spot when in the areaA fantastic pub! Not in an obvious spot but worth a visit. A good range of drinks, very friendly staff, an engaging inside decor that is cosy and sociable, and a brilliant outdoor area that is wonderful in the summer. Gigs are available and there’s a nice community of customers. The food, which is not exactly cheap, is very tasty that I would recommend. This is also good for veggies/vegans.Visited January 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 28 January 2023
- Jo Jo Lou BeeCromford, United Kingdom401 contributionsDecent beer & burger!Popped in here for some food Saturday early evening after a cheeky beer in the brewery next door. We had a lovely golden ale then chose a burger each, we went for the Mamma Mia but asked to have the chicken southern fried instead of plain chicken breast, which was obviously naughty but nice 😬. We also both upgraded to sweet potato fries. The burger was delicious especially with the halloumi, it wasn’t the most succulent chicken burger I’ve had but it was good. The onion ring was also nice, we really enjoyed our food!Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 April 2023

Great pub, good food, nice selection of real ales and live music to boot. Tram runs by the pub so is easy to get to. Would definitely visit again when back in the area.

Interesting and quirky pub, I enjoyed looking at the decor. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I loved the naming of the food on the menu which added a bit of fun. I had the Johnny Cash burger and I thought it would be tasty, but it was more than tasty, utterly delicious, as were the fries and onion rings. I was just sad I couldn’t quite manage it all. My companions also thoroughly enjoyed their choices. I would definitely visit again and recommend it to anyone looking for a casual meal out.

Sunny Friday evening 25/3/22 with daughter & grand daughter in tow, a brew I have never had before Castle Rocks Jungle VIP could soon become my favourite beer, it was excellent 👌
Burgers & fries all round, chicken goujons for young Ez, food was superb all trays soon cleared.

Is Barbara Roberts, by any chance, a friend of Ness? Would explain the ridiculous, spiteful, factless review of the quiz night.
