Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a great day out with Henley Canoe Hire. They had kindly allowed us to swap when we did the hire as we were unable to go on the date we had planned, which was appreciated.
We paddled about 1.5 hours to the St George & Dragon in Wargrave where we tied up on their jetty and had a nice lunch. The paddle back took slightly longer due to queues at the lock but these made a rather welcome rest before we paddled to the far side of the town and back. This was probably enough paddling in one day for us as non-regular boaters!
The (council controlled) parking outside is quite expensive at £10 per day - it looked like it would have been cheaper to park at the museum or even more so at the station which has always had spaces when I have tried on a Saturday.

We did a one way trip from Henley to Boulters lock Maidenhead. To give us more time they opened up early for us and had everything ready when we arrived. This is our third trip with them and we'll certainly be using them again. We'd thoroughly recommend them.

We arrived with our own paddle board to paddle around Henley and found that we had come without one of our kit bags. We were missing a paddle and a buoyancy aid. Henley Canoe hire came to our rescue and provided the necessary kit at a very reasonable cost. Excellent, friendly service.

We did the kayak from Lechlade to Teddington Lock and everything went extremely well. The information provided on the distances between locks and recommended meal and accommodation options was very good - albeit some of the accommodation options had closed down post COVID lockdowns - however it was always possible to find an alternative source on google or AirBnB in that location.

we would highly recommend Henley Canoe hire

Another great day out on the Thames, padding from Henley to Boulters Lock in Maidenhead. Good weather helped, of course, as did the beers en route and the pub stops. We booked a one way trip and it was all very simple and easy. The Henley Canoe guys were ready and waiting to collect the boats at the end, after we called them en route. This is a wonderfully scenic stretch of the Thames and well worth the visit, although no need to go all the way to Boulters (Maidenhead). This is our second trip with Henley canoe hire and it won't be our last. Recommnded

The guys at Henley Canoe Hire were so accommodating. They went out of their way to book four canoes for us so we could spend the day with family and friends.

We booked the night before after looking at a few different companies offering canoe / kayak / paddle board hire finding this one to offer the best value for our family of five.

We were the first customers of the day and once we introduced ourselves the man was warm and friendly whilst continuing to unlock the boats which were secured to the riverbank.

A quick but comprehensive safety talk was carried out alongside an outline of the rules of the waterway. He ensured we each knew how to paddle and control the canoe and kayak we had hired. These talks could have been as long or short as we had needed, he was a good judge of his customers experience.

We were quickly away and headed away from town and towards the lock. Motor boaters we’re happy to offer advice of our positioning in the lock which was operated by a friendly British Waterways volunteer. We enjoyed an easy paddle down the pleasant river looking for somewhere to stop for lunch (and swap vessels) although this, perhaps unsurprisingly was not possible as every inch of river front in private land - no mooring! This is the only area where the hire company could offer more where should we aim to get to in x time.

We did find somewhere (a field latterly noted to be covered by CCTV!) and returned the same way. More friendly boaters and paddle boarders plus a swimming dog!

A great three hours and only one pair of glasses succumbed to the depths of the Thames.

Brilliant, such lovely helpful people. Let us chop and change the canoes we had booked and didn’t charge us any extra. Will definitely we back and highly recommended. A lovely relaxing way to spend an hour on a beautiful stretch of river. Thanks especially to Josh

Spent a lovely couple of hours paddling up to Wargrave and back via the Hennington backwater with my daughter in a twin kayak.
