Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked the night before after looking at a few different companies offering canoe / kayak / paddle board hire finding this one to offer the best value for our family of five.
We were the first customers of the day and once we introduced ourselves the man was warm and friendly whilst continuing to unlock the boats which were secured to the riverbank.
A quick but comprehensive safety talk was carried out alongside an outline of the rules of the waterway. He ensured we each knew how to paddle and control the canoe and kayak we had hired. These talks could have been as long or short as we had needed, he was a good judge of his customers experience.
We were quickly away and headed away from town and towards the lock. Motor boaters we’re happy to offer advice of our positioning in the lock which was operated by a friendly British Waterways volunteer. We enjoyed an easy paddle down the pleasant river looking for somewhere to stop for lunch (and swap vessels) although this, perhaps unsurprisingly was not possible as every inch of river front in private land - no mooring! This is the only area where the hire company could offer more where should we aim to get to in x time.
We did find somewhere (a field latterly noted to be covered by CCTV!) and returned the same way. More friendly boaters and paddle boarders plus a swimming dog!
A great three hours and only one pair of glasses succumbed to the depths of the Thames.

My favourite part of the experience was definitely taking it easy, looking out along the horizon and enjoying a view of the cyan sky, while letting the quiet, calm breeze carry you along the river. I would also like to thank Matt, our instructor who helped us get set up and out on to the river. Overall, it was a joyous experience, and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a nice day on the open River, and a stop at a pub for a cool drink.

Little man and I had the most amazing 3 hours in a long time.
Matt was brilliant, he gave us a simple safety briefing, got us kitted out and recommended the most amazing backwater route.
We were exceptionally lucky with the weather and I’d like to say it was the best water-sport experience I’ve had in the UK

Five of us hired two canoes from Henley Canoe Hire for the weekend so we could complete the Henley to Windsor trip, saying overnight at their camp site in Marlow. Henley Canoe Hire provided an excellent service throughout - from the ease of booking to the quality of the equipment. Thoroughly recommended.

What an amazing afternoon we have had. As a family of 4 (children aged 8 and 6) this was a perfect time to be together and take in the beautiful views along the Thames. We hired the canoe for 3hrs which was perfect to see so much but not get too tired!!
The staff were really friendly and informative, giving a great safety briefing too.
I really couldn't recommend it enough although would bring a spare set of clothes or wear shorts as I came out soaked! (I'm sure it was more down to my rowing technique though rather than anything else! 😂😊).

Lovely voyage on the canoe today with my friend Tom. Plenty of time to enjoy the sights and have a swim too!
Canoes and lifejackets are spot on and you get a good safety briefing at the start.
100% recommended!

We first tried out Henley Canoe Hire in June when we were looking for something fun to do outdoors as a family. We were pleasantly surprised as to how "safe" it was. All the equipment was sanitised before being given to us ..buoyancy aids
and paddles. We were given an informative safely briefing and off we went. An enjoyable hour paddling on the Thames through beautiful Henley. Since that first visit, I have returned many times with different friends, introducing them to the joys of canoeing! The team are so efficient and helpful especially Matt, who now recognises me as a regular!
I thoroughly recommend Henley Canoe Hire for that fun, outdoor activity with family & friends.

We hired a canoe for 4 people with ages ranging from 73 to 7 years old. Fortunately, the 2 teenagers were competent kayakers. We paddled up as far as the lock and down past Henley Bridge before turning back again. It wasn't too difficult although paddling upstream in a strong breeze focused the body & made me concentrate. Even though there was quite a lot of river traffic, we had lots of laughs & managed quite well, coming back dry & all in one piece. The best part was seeing the beautiful black & grey striped chicks of a crested grebe.
We were given clear instructions at the outset, the boat was safe & the bouyancy equipment fitted well. Good value & would happily go again. The only downside is that parking nearby was impossible and we had to park in the town centre & walk to the river, so make sure you allow enough time beforehand. I suppose this is only to be expected in a place like Henley (Review written by the 73 year old)

I paid for canoe hire where the booking has been accepted. For two days I have been trying to contact this company to check if the booking can still go ahead as this weekend it is Henley regatta. 5 phones and multiple emails and no has responded.
It's my wife's birthday and I need to make plans accordingly if the system shouldn't of accepted the booking.
If the owners are reading this...have the decency to reply to calls and emails! Its basic customer service.

We booked a group day trip from Henley to Marlow, and had such an amazing time - Henley Canoe Hire were perfect and made the day run so smoothly. They also were very helpful in organising the day, providing advice about the trip and number of canoes that would be best, making the booking even more straightforward. I can’t recommend enough!!
Thank you Henley Canoe Hire - we will be back!!

Hi, looks from the website that you only do doubles? Do you have single kayaks available for tomorrow?

How many passengers on each boat? How many boats? Our family of 14 will be traveling together. Can you accommodate us?

Hi. Thanks for your message!
Our canoes carry a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 passengers each. Our online FAQ and T&C pages explain how bookings work and how children are allowed to travel. (I'm afraid TripAdvisor won't allow me to post a link in this reply but if you Google Henley Canoe Hire you can find us, then just click on the FAQ tab at the top.)
Please drop us a line (contact details on the website, again TripAdvisor won't let me put an email address here) letting us know when you are thinking of hiring and we'll confirm our availability.
Best wishes,
Sarah at Henley Canoe Hire.
