We attended a City of Oxford Orchestral event at the Sheldonian on a weekend break in Oxford- what a treat, fantastic venue and although the seats were a little uncomfortable we didn't mind as the newly renovated ceiling and the wonderful acoustic were terrific.

Very interesting place - and view from the top of the whole of Oxford is spectacular, particularly on a clear day as it was when we visited.

A thoroughly enjoyable Christmas concert in the Sheldonian theatre. The architecture and acoustics were perfect for the music and the skit on Mrs Beeton's Christmas pudding will live long in the memory :P

We were treated to a delightful and eclectic mix of music that included orchestral, voice and rising talent. The architecture and preservation of the building both inside and out was wonderful.

Our son had his Bachelors and Masters ceremonies here and it is just beautiful inside, especially the ceiling. Wren's architectural genius is self evident and the views over Oxford are breathtaking.

This is a great place to go to see the 'dreaming spires' they provide a leaflet to help you identify the buildings. There are many steps but it's worth it.

The climb to the top involves many stairs but is well worth it. The floor before the top makes you feel you're in someone's attic. Summaries of famous people like Christopher Wren are really interesting. Loved the place. Go in with a student or lecturer...More
