Our college students LOVED the walking tour with David. He effortlessly wove together Oxford culture, history, and admissions with locations significant to the life and writings of C.S. Lewis (the topic of our studies). It is rare to find such a great combination of charisma and knowledge in this kind of specialized tour. We cannot wait to tour with him again next year!

Our tour of Oxford was planned just after we arrived from Canada - so we were all somewhat jet lagged. Despite this David managed to keep us interested and engaged. Our group of six was pretty diverse in age and interests and David was able to keep everyone involved in conversation. He really tailored to tour to our interests and shared his incredible knowledge and love of the city. He managed to balance history, culture and fun facts to keep us all going. We loved it and would definitely go again.

We spent a wonderful 3 hours with David at Oxford City Walks. We had many, many questions about University life, admissions and history and David managed to answer them all. He even contacted me a day or 2 later after researching the answer to one of my questions. David is a scholar and a very well read and interesting man. He made history come alive for us. We could have easily spent mant more hours with him. He was very easy to work with when booking the tour. Would happily recommend Oxford City Walks to anyone visiting Oxford and wants more than a Harry Potter experience.

We met Philip Addison outside the Botanic Gardens for a brief introduction to Magdalen College that is across the road from the Botanic Garden. We then entered the college. You can buy a joint ticket for entry to the college and the Botanic Gardens. Philip was an energetic and entertaining guide, knowing lots of unusual details of the college, such as the bumpy bits on the pinnacles are called crockets. The time at the college flew by as we were shown the John Piper stained glass art, the red deer in the nearby park and so very much more. Then it was across the road to the Botanic Gardens, which were once the Jewish Cemetery. It took 4 thousand carts of muck to create the gardens, which are a joy to behold. Philip pointed out many interesting features in the gardens, including the little art work of a Cheshire cat up a tree. The real Alice and her sister had a cat that Lewis Carroll saw from his rooms at Christchurch. It always seemed to be hiding up a tree from them.. The sun shone and we had a very special time with Philip, who had rushed into the breach to give us a wonderful tour. I shall bring another group of friends to Oxford in 2020 and of course we will be guided by Oxford City Walks.
