Great day spoilt by cafe downgrade
Blenheim Palace at Christmas, amazing well worth a visit take the kids they will love it also . Light show on the gardens spectacular so much work gone into the whole experience . Only downside was the Stables cafe , normally wonderful but cit back for Christmas due to anticipated numbers, so paper plates and wooden cutlery ( which would not cut the flatbread and it seemed to me smaller portions . In addition food was not really warm enough and the whole menu was truncated very disappointed indeed spoilt the whole day.
Thank you for taking the time to review Blenheim Palace and share your thoughts with us. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the majority of your experiences and had a wonderful festive experience. I will forward your comments to our catering team. Overall we thank you for your feedback. We do hope we can welcome you back soon. Wishing you a very merry Christmas.

    Just magical
Christmas at Blenheim was a magical experience, well worth the price. Everything was perfect except for the very rude individuals who push people (including children) out of the way so that they can get their perfect shot of a glittery bauble, selfie by a tree or whatever else they imagine their zombie followers will want to see. Not Blenheim's fault and it was the only thing that cast a slight dampner on what was, in every other way, a perfect day

    Not Good
I can't believe you would use such an awful company as See tickets for your ticketing. Absolute rubbish company. Nigh on impossible to contact except by email. We had parking booked for Blenheim Palace on 14 December. Our car broke down on the way, so asked if they could transfer our ticket to the following Saturday. No such joy from this Scrooge of a company. We were looking forward to the Christmas fare and we attend every year. It's not really free as you have to pay £12.50 for parking, which is why this is the first time we will miss it as I am not prepared to pay £25 to park.

    Don’t waste your money.
Went on a trip today with family at 7:00pm. Also went last year. But, it was whack. It’s a shame you don’t invest the money people spend on the tickets, on the lights. Because, £27 for an adult without parking is shocking. The long distance between anything 1/2 decent with a coffee shop or bar at £6 for a hot drink or £9 for a burger. The only thing decent was the sign that said “EXIT” that’s why I pushed to a 2 star rating. Also, I didn’t see/hear a single person say anything good about it.

Christmas at Blenheim - disappointing for 2nd year running
We are frequent Blenheim visitors all year round and Christmas at Blenheim has become a traditional family visit for going on 5 years now. Previous years (notably Alice in The Palace and Cinderella), felt curated, lavish, well thought through, and well worth the ticket price. We attended The Nutcracker in the palace last year, and were left wanting, but dismissed it as a disappointing, post-COVID anomaly. Unfortunately this year it was even more disappointing - like other reviews have suggested, feeling low budget and thrown together like a mismatch of pieces from a prop room. Where before we have spent up to an hour walking through and enjoying the rooms, this year we were stretched to stay longer than 15 minutes. The story of the Snow Queen felt more tailored for young children, and the final room fell flat with the famed queen wearing a cheap Smiffys white wig. Sadly, because of the past two years we are reluctant to return unless the standards set in 2018 & 2019 can be met once again - and fear this may be the case for others too. Hoping this feedback can be constructive for the Blenheim team.

    Magical At Christmas
My Husband & I visited at Christmas time last year & had an amazing time , we had the afternoon tea , visited the palace & light trail . We were so impressed last year that we said we must bring the kids this year ( 5 teenage/Adult kids ) This year the palace was Beautiful & I don’t think people realise the hard work that is gone into it ! Our grown up kids all loved it . The light trail was good , but we were disappointed that the lake didn’t have the moon & silent night feature that they had last year ( which my Husband told everyone about & was looking forward to ! ) The only negatives are the fact that we have to pay £10 parking on top of nearly £500 for our Tickets !! This is absolutely shocking in my opinion ! Also some of the food stalls are extortionate . £10 for a Burger !? £14 for a bit of pork & onion in a pitta bread !? I know Bleinham say that they take note of peoples feedback , but I can guarantee these food stall prices will NOT be lower PRICED next year ! Probably higher !!? The hot chocolate stall was lovely & I don’t mind paying £3.50 for one with cream , marshmallows & a flake , thats reasonable . I also thought £6 for a crepe was ok too . £6 for a small plastic cup of mulled wine isn’t exceptable though !! Anyhow , we all had a lovely evening & the atmosphere was lovely I would recommend as an overall lovely christmassy experience !
Thank you for taking the time to review Blenheim Palace and share your comments with us. We are absolutely delighted to hear you had a wonderful festive experience at our Illuminated light trail and Kingdom of the snow queen experience. We are grateful for your feedback and will pass on your comments regarding our car parking and food prices. We do hope that we get to welcome you back in the future and we are wishing you a very Merry Christmas.

Paid for a more WOW factor than a few B&Q penguins, it's changed.
Prices have gone up and the lights have dimmed. Blenheim Palace is a fantastic venue and was destined to be a yearly tradition for us until this year. Past years have had many wow factors with the light shows. They seem to have reduced the displays and changed the route resulting in an underwhelming experience. Can't fault the staff, they were brill but for the price and quality of venue you surely have to leave feeling satisfied and not thinking of the phrase 'cutting corners'. I dont remember as many drink stations on what seemed like a shorter route - kind of made us feel they want more money from the visit lessening the chrimbo vibe. The stalls and food are as good as years past but we were there for the lights. Perhaps i mis-remember. Too expensive for too little so we can't go again unless they up their game. And get rid of the B&Q penguins. Taking a stroll down up the road to no. 57's lights is better than the anticlimax of this years lights.

    Christmas light trail
Visited the Christmas light trail and booked afternoon tea. Afternoon tea disappointing and not much like the pictures on line when you book. The light trail however compared to previous years was really disappointing, about half the size and half the lights. Previous years had been amazing but this years were not good and certainly not worth the price, a real shame.

    Anticlimactic
We went to the Christmas Lights trail and having been every year for the last few years I was left a little disappointed. The route has been changed again this year and now, instead of ending in the formal gardens, it starts there and this made for a rather anticlimactic end to the trail as it just seems to stop. There was no wow factor. I loved it all the way around but the end was disappointing. I hope they improve it for next year.
Thank you for taking the time to review Blenheim Palace and share your feedback with us. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the majority of your light trail and we are grateful your comments on the route of our light trail. I had two young German friends staying with me and thought that this would be a great experience for them. I should probably have researched a little better before paying the (can't deny it) quite expensive tickets. The web site suggested that an hour would be needed for the palace and so I assumed that there would be much more to see in there. The only reason the rooms took 20 minutes to go round was because the queue was slowly moving. The Sleeping Beauty decorations were actually a bit cheesy and we would have preferred to see the rooms in all their glory. Sadly, my friends won't be able to take advantage of the 12 month pass to return to see the palace when this will be the case.

It is always a little embarrassing to take German friends to what passes for a Christmas Market and this one was no exception: a few cabins with some nice items in there but not much atmosphere and nothing tempted us to buy.

On the plus side, all the staff were very friendly and helpful; the palace and the grounds are impressive and the light trail was lovely. I don't regret going but I can't say that it is good value for money.

The House was as ever beautifully displayed however, it appeared that something was wrong with the ticket sales? In previous years entries have been timed but this year everyone was kept queuing outside in a long line in the pouring rain beyond the allocated entry time. When questioned the attendant rather rudely replied that people had been queuing for more than half an hour and I should join the queue. This was despite raising the issue of stated ticket times. There was no where to take cover from the inclement weather or for the elderly to sit. Inside, everyone was shoulder to shoulder making it difficult to take in what was a wonderful display.

On another note the magical light trail is absolutely anything but magical. Another reviewer commented on the fact that there had been more in the display in previous years. We have been going to Christmas at Blenheim for a number of years and this is the worst display yet. There was little connectivity between displays and what few lights there were, were completely obscure. If you are taking children, don't bother, Father Christmas is incarcerated behind his fence and the sleigh factory looks like the local dump! An extremely poor performance where a sign points out that Blenheim is now using LED lights to help keep down emissions. The cost of entry for a family of four is enormous and in these days of watching every penny the Board at Blenheim needs to seriously reconsider what it offers and how it offers. Very unwelcoming, very sad and very disappointing. I do not recommend visiting.

Oh. pps. We also used to take tea in the afternoon but did not book this time as the service last year was unprofessional and the tablecloths covered in crumbs with food left on the floor.

Blenheim I'm really sorry about this review, it is as disappointing to us as it is to you. As a family we have visited for many years but no more, your standards and what you are supplying against cost of entry fall far short. I hope you can take this review and be constructive with it.

I haven’t made it to Blenheim palace Christmas trail yet however I would like to write a review about the phenomenal customer service from Isabella at See tickets. I had to inform See tickets on the day of the event that we were unable to attend Blenheim as a family due to an unexpected medical emergency within the family. Isabella dealt with the situation so compassionately and efficiently and as a gesture of goodwill given the nature of the cancellation managed to rearrange all the tickets to a later date for us within the space of hours. She was so patient and kind throughout and really went the extra mile to ensure the issue got sorted which was a massive relief considering the stress we were already under. We are all extremely grateful as a family for the excellent customer service provided by Isabella, it is very rare nowadays. Thank you so much Isabella and we are really happy that we will all get another chance to go together for Christmas as a family.

Sorry to be the Xmas Grinch but we visited today for the Christmas Lights/market event and thought it’s was quite disappointing and didn’t deliver value for money. The Christmas market was small and really lacked atmosphere. Most stall holders were a bit miserable and sat looking at their phones. At the market there was nowhere dry and under shelter to sit eat, only wet seats and tables. So we had to stand in the rain to eat. The indoor house tour was short, spent a lot of time moving slow in the queue. The outside light tour was lovely though. Sad to say that overall the event lacked a festive fun atmosphere so we probably wouldn’t go again 🥲

The light trail was very impressive with some unusual features, which we haven’t seen in previous years at other venues. Overall very enjoyable.

BUT the arrival and Car Parking was a total shambles. Our entry time was6p.m.(not that that was of much significance..they scan your ticket and in you go). We were directed by marshals in high vis. jackets waving green glow sticks….past several parking areas with obvious spaces….and on and on and on down the road, which eventually takes you to the exit. We were then directed off the road onto the grass verge and abandoned. No marshals, no green glow sticks and definitely no information. We were a good 20 minute walk from the entrance and cars driving towards us in the dark! Big safety issues here. As two of us have issues with very lengthy walks we decided to exit the site and re-enter. We were then directed to the area, which was loosely designated for disabled parking. Lots of spaces, so we parked and took the short walk to the entrance. By this time it was 6.45pm so we were late arriving. One of the marshals “explained” that the chaos was because they had been very busy!! This would have been sort of acceptable if this year was the first year the event had been held, but obviously that isn’t the case!

We had arranged to meet up as a group for a meal on the way home. Had to cancel as we were never going to make the time. Fortunately we hadn’t booked the inside the house display because we would never have got there in time!

Not sure that we would go again. Sadly.

I have been wanting to come here for the Christmas experience for years but every time I have gone to book it had been fully booked so this year I booked as soon as booking opened. It was probably the best Christmas event we have been too. The sleeping beauty decorations were beautiful, loved the interactive part where you could look out for animals etc in each room. We couldn't get tickets for the light trail to tie in straight after the sleeping beauty one so had to wait around for 3 hours but as the market and fairground was there that was not an issue at all. The light trail was stunning. Lots to see and although everywhere was busy it never felt over crowded. You could get around without having to queue to do so. All the staff we encountered were really friendly and definitely helped spread Christmas cheer. We had a fantastic day out. The heavy frost and freezing cold added to the magic of it all. Will definitely be booking to come again

We hadn’t been to the Christmas market at Blenheim since COVID, and last year we went to Waddesdon Manor, so this year we thought we’d go back to Blenheim as it used to be the best Christmas market going….. But what a disappointment it was. There used to be a number of very large tents housing loads of really good stalls with stuff on sale hard to find elsewhere, but now it’s just a few little wooden sheds with not a lot on offer. Size wise the market is probably only 10-20% of what it used to be, with the really exclusive sellers no longer here.

We thought that this might have been the case after COVID, hence why we stayed away, and thought it would have gone back to normal by now, but no, it was very disappointing to see the very poor effort on show. The Christmas market something we always looked forward to, but we shan’t return unless the Christmas market of old returns as it isn’t worth the travelling, time or money. Shame.

Thank you for taking the time to review your visit to the Blenheim Christmas Market. We are sorry to hear that the Christmas Market was not to your liking and are sorry that the Christmas Craft Fair that you referred to is no longer a feature at Blenheim Palace. This event used to take place over a long weekend in November and is something that we have not held for several years now. We do hope that you will return to Blenheim Palace again in the future. Have a lovely Christmas.

This was a one off Christmas experience for us as we travelled to it from three hours away & stayed in a premier inn for the night afterwards. Hence why we did everything and it cost a fortune but it was like a mini mini break! I wanted to do something different other than just taking the kids to see Santa and the kids expecting a present.
I have to say the house and the light trail are amazing. The stand out was definitely the light trail, took around an hour to get around and so many different sections with different music to match. So atmospheric and attention to detail. Even my pre teen was blown away by it.
The only disappointing feature of our trip was the afternoon tea. Odd sweet choices for the kids I thought including Turkish delight flavoured macarons which all got left amongst other bits and bobs. What’s wrong with simple brownie bites etc? Even on the adults plates, there was nothing festive really, no mince pies or anything turkey related etc. Ironically when we got to our Premier Inn that night, the Blenheim at Christmas documentary was on the TV, they showed last years afternoon tea in part of the programme and I have to say it looked a lot better. I also ordered a second pot of tea and it never arrived.
The Christmas market and fairground rides are extortionate but you know this is going to be the case and it all does add to the atmosphere.
Overall a lovely Christmas experience but I do feel a bit hard done to over the afternoon tea - as you can probably tell!

As we had an annual pass we thought we would visit Blenheim to see the Christmas market and the palace decorations . Checking the website it was clear that parking had to be paid for, however, there was nothing obvious Having to pay for car parking just because it’s Christmas is taking advantage that informed us that we would need a ticket for entry to the palace. After queuing for 10 mins in the freezing cold we were advised we needed a timed ticket but they had sold out. We left disappointed.

Checking the web site after we returned home we found that tickets to the palace were charged at £35 with an optional annual pass. However those who already have an annual pass are also required to pay £35 for the timed ticket!! £70 to see some Christmas decorations is rather obscene

Also, there was nothing on site to advise that a timed entry to the house was needed. Having to pay for £10 + £2.50 transaction fee for 2hrs car parking just because it’s Christmas is day-light robbery.

In future we’ll stick with English Heritage & the National Trust.
