Does not contain water, so not much to see. Public benches, so OK for a picnic or a rest while shopping.

This fountain is a classic Victorian fountain surrounded by flower beds, almost certainly unnoticed and unrecognised for what it is by the majority of shoppers in Reading. It's a grade II listed building. I don't think it is a working fountain

In 1887, this fountain designed by G. W. Webb to raised to celebrate Queen Victoria's Golden jubilee. It has Oval 3 stage fountain. Large lower basin (now surrounded by a small flower beds) and drinking bowls.

There were many monuments raised to celebrate Queen Victoria's Golden jubilee around Britain. This fountain was used to water horses in St Mary's Butts. Today it is surrounded by a small circular floral garden but otherwise it is unchanged.
