Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you ever get the opportunity to visit this building take it with both hands. Absolutely beautiful building with a wealth of history. Fantastic displays of cutlery, straight razors, swords and silver tableware that could grace any table. We were lucky to be seated with a past Master Cutler and his wife who both explained to us about the banqueting hall and the other rooms.

I held my 50th birthday party here, a black tie dinner for 28 guests.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful, in arranging the room, helping select a menu, they even sorted out an impromptu tour for my guests.
The food was fabulous and the service on the night was impeccable. They made the evening so memorable for us all.

I presume there aren't many reviews of this incredible building because the public doesn't always yet to have a look inside (it is available to hire for weddings etc).
For me, it is one of the wonders of Sheffield. I noticed it opposite the Cathedral one day and we were lucky enough to visit as part of Open House.
I found a lot of similarities between it and the Livery Company Halls in London- a decent number of which I've visited- and it stands comparison with and indeed outshines many of those.
The rooms and exhibits were simply astonishing- they included an absolutely enormous room used for dinners and special events, doors and lights that previously belonged on the sister ship of the Titanic- the most incredible and enormous penknife I've ever seen....
Best of all for me, all the staff that we spoke to were so friendly, informative and down to earth. They helped to make a very grand place feel very warm and personable.

Cutlers Hall is a beautiful building along Church Street, a fantastic and historic building dating from 1832.
Constructed from designs from architect's Samuel Worth and Benjamin Broomhead Taylor, extensions added between 1865 1867 and then again in 1888 ,built in the Corinthian Order with a Classical facade, its a great looking building, adds to the joy of walking down Church Street and is most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Went to Cutler's Hall for a book signing. The Hall itself was great, beautiful inside, really grand and I had a great time. But there is no parking outside, no disabled access (even though the organisers asked for ramps the staff said they could not find them and disabled people were actually told by staff to get out of their chairs and hobble up the stairs). Straight away as I entered the Hall the concierge was shaking his head and looked very unimpressed. Yes, there were a lot of people (authors and their assistants) coming with a huge amount of stuff but that is not a reason to have a sour face at 9 am. And when food was being served for us again the staff was lacking. Very much, They had two young boys (who I guess were still training) that were shaking like a leaf and struggled to pour a cup of coffee without spilling it. Their attitude was off putting. I was mocked for asking for a decaff coffee and a normal one. Really?? What is wrong with that? As much as I think the place is amazing the staff put me right off from coming back.

Huge high vaulted ceilings made this building the perfect wedding venue. Toilets were a bit of a trek from function room. Reasonable bar prices.

This was an unusual perspective for a visit to Cutler's Hall because I was involved with others in a one day only exhibition.
Otherwise direct access to Cutler's Hall would have been less likely.
However should one be fortunate to get the chance to visit there, for some private function or one of the occasional open days or exhibitions held there, it is well worth looking round.
The place has the elegance and slight opulence of a former era but manages to combine this with an efficiency of modernity, a certain classiness and a convivial atmosphere.
The staff were welcoming and most helpful.
There is a lift should the staircase prove too daunting. Though it is an impressive ascent you get to meet your equals on the way up!
The toilets were quite a way downstairs but they were accessible by sloping floors and stairs and were in pristine condition.
The Exhibition day itself had a pleasantly uplifting atmosphere this being partly due to the the aura of an impressive edifice, the hard work that everyone had put into it over the previous months, excellent musical accompaniment, superb refreshments and members of the public having an enjoyable time.
The only seemingly downcast or serious expressions coming from some of the portraiture perhaps from missing this celebration or from having to pose for so long!
Cutler's Hall may not be a place that everyone may get the chance to visit, because it isn't always direct open access, but should an opportunity arise it is well worth seeing, and presumably will bring similar positive results.

We were lucky enough to do a guided tour with the Deputy Beadle. Really interesting history of the building, the Cutlers Company, Sheffield and so many exhibits. If you get the chance it is well worth it.

Attended a funeral across the road at the Cathedral. The reception was held at “The Cutlers Hall”. What a fabulous building, typical Victorian, very ornate with fabulous workmanship to be seen in every nook and cranny.
I love those Grand staircases as you climb to the main hall. The catering was very good and also the service considering there were hundreds of invited guests.
A lovely experience in a superb building.
