Been meaning to visit The Abbeydale for years and finally got round to doing it, we were disappointed we had left it so long. Great to see the workshops and machinery as it was when it was in full production. Great to talk to the volunteers who bring to life the atmosphere of the site. Well worth a visit. Next... More

Very compact original buildings capturing the early production of tool steel and the manufacture of scythes for export across the world - Classic Sheffield industrial heritage showing the leading manufacture of specialist steel product that the city is famed for. Although dogs aren't allowed in the actual museum buildings there is an excellent dog walking wood just across the road

This place gives you a chance to see and experience what life was like for workers at the time of the industrial revolution. The buildings have been left for you to walk around and explore, as they were when production was in full force. An interesting video is in the first building to give you an idea of what you... The Hamlet is a return to Sheffield's industrial past. On open days they start the water wheels and put on Victorian costumes. There is a cafe but no alcohol due the Quacker connection. If you like steam and smoke you will love this place.

If you have an interest in local history or the industrial revolution then you will love this place. Its very differant to other industrial museums, Kelham Island for example, there are no glass cases or displays. You wander around the site and from room to room, information is provided on what happened where but being in the rooms gives you... More

I was a parent helping on the Dore Primary School trip. To say Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet is only down the road from where we live I’d not realised what a lovely place it is. The 2 Florence Nightingales who did the educational trip were brilliant, all the children, teachers and parents enjoyed reliving the life of Florence Nightingale. The café... More

old days revive when you walk through the old premises of Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet. The tools, machinery and buildings appael to your imagination. David and Judy, two volunteers at the site were very friendly and helpful. Nice cappucino too!
