Went to entrance only to find it closed and we had to walk to different entrance. Went to one cafe and found that closed. Other cafe very limited offers particularly for children. Animals well presented but many exhibits empty.

Lovely time, GREAT play area for the kids which was totally unexpected. Proper good value for money but just have to say one thing which has really played on my mind and hopefully if the owners read this they may reconsider - so i totally get that kids need to learn about the food chain etc, however i think that's upto the parent to teach them when they think the kid is ready. When we were just about to leave yesterday there was maybe a 4/5yo girl in absolute hysterics, her mum was trying to comfort her, the little girl had seen one of your staff walking round with a clear tub full of dead baby chicks. A bit grizzly for the kids to see and the mum to then have to try explain !

Not been here for sometime, but was an excellent birthday treat for our 5 year old. He loved the dinosaur trail, held a snake and saw the many limas and meerkats as well as other animals. Plenty of new activities to do without spending extra in the many well designed play areas. The gift shop had a good range of things at reasonable prices too!
Spend a whole day. We had to book in online for an entrance slot.

Loads of animals, many of them were really inquisitive and came out to see us, no need to look for ages to see what was in an enclosure. Birds in the butterfly house were really tame, granddaughter had about a dozen birds on her head, shoulders and lap, if your nervous about things flying about you and landing don't go in. Meercats were out and about looking to see what was going on, birds whistling and talking.

With this appearing to be quite a small wildlife park I had average expectations for this little place but actually fell in love with it right away. I ordered some animal feed as well as otter pots for us and our toddler which was immediatley enjoyed by all as soon as we arrived. We found the grounds to be clean and well maintained - small as expected but this made it ideal for younger children to walk round and see everything without getting too grumpy and fed up. My daughter absolutely LOVED feeding the otters, meerkats and guinea pigs and is still telling people about it a week later.
Good value for money, lots of children focussed facilities like lower sinks and toilets etc. Really thoroughly enjoyed it! I think the whole day really took us by surprise!

Was a little disappointed, lots of it was run down, cafe's were closed, and a very disappointing butterfly house, which from what we could see, only had one butterfly, but it did have some nice birds. The Armadillo was running from side to side of it's enclosure, a sign of stress. The place would probably be ok for smaller kid's, just not for us old kid's.

Had a family visit with 4 of us. Really good value, well kept grounds , some really quirky but funny exhibits and best of all a truly magical butterfly house which was incredible. Would go again if I visit the area.

I have visited the Tropical Butterfly House (near Sheffield) many times over the years and the experience has been excellent. But I am really disappointed today. It seemed so run down and there were so few staff. There was a long queue at the entrance and the poor lady on reception seemed quite overwhelmed. She couldn't find our online booking - although she did eventually let us in (Bless her!) and there was no animal food available. The main cafe and toilets were closed and there were no animal experiences at all. The latter is what we really enjoyed and made the TBH so special. Not the day out we had really expected.

This centre is a great day out for families. The tropical house with the birds and butterflies is definitely the highlight and I believe they are building a second house which is great news. There are many different types of animals for you to see on your visit, plus different animal experiences at certain times. We went to see the armadillo experience and this was really interesting, we were able to stroke the animals and learn many interesting things from the keepers.

The only drawback is the cafe has still not reopened since covid, leaving the only food option to be sitting outdoors. The food was good but the cold wind spoilt our lunchtime unfortunately. It would be nice if indoor seating was available again, though this could be due to shortness of staff.

Overall would highly recommend and we look forward to seeing the expansion!

Lovely place to visit and interact with some of the animals, especially if you buy the feed packs which are good value, to add extra fun to your visit.
The rain did spoil it as well as the dreaded bird flu...xx
