I have just attended the bread making for beginners and introduction to sourdough course and had the most wonderful day. The course was held in Jacqui’s beautiful home and the guidance Jacqui gave us was excellent. The proof of the day was in the eating, the Calzone’s we had made were then served up for lunch and eaten with relish. The soda bread and little cottage rolls made and eaten today at home for supper were the best tasting bread I’ve ever eaten; though I say so myself! Thank you Jacqui, I now intend to go back and try the gluten free baking course later in the year.

Myself and a group of work colleague took part in the The Taste of Italy Day as our team day out. The day was fantastic from the organising to the day itself. Jacqui kindly adapted the day for us so we could spend the whole day there and it was planned with excellence. Everyone had a great time and the added touches of the Star Baker, Aprons and Wooden Spoons was such a lovely touch. Can't recommend enough.

A fantastic bread making workshop with Jacqui & Lorraine. Great fun in a stunning location. Learnt so much and everything tasted so delicious, it was eaten within minutes of getting my 2 loaves home.
The ladies really look after you, nothing too much trouble. Calzone pizza for lunch was so tasty, proud to have made it myself.
Highly recommend anyone to book, I’ll certainly be returning very soon. Thanks ladies.

Thank you Jacqui for delivering a fantastic 'Festive Bakes' workshop. What a way to spend a rainy, dull Thursday! The title of the workshop definitely loved up to it's name.

We made mince pies, a Christmas pudding and a Christmas cake. The dried fruit was pre-soaked in brandy all ready for us to make some tasty treats. Jacqui showed us how to decorate a Christmas cake. Everything was well organised.

I definitely picked up some hints and tips. It's a long time since I steamed a pudding. Thanks Lorraine for keeping an eye on our bakes and running round after us.

Lunch was delicious and very filling. Thank you to Lorraine for making some delicious cheese and onion soda bread. Lovely to meet and chat with a great bunch of people.

I will definitely be returning to do another workshop in the future.

We had a lovely day on Thursday at the pie and pudding course. Jacqui and Lorraine were excellent hosts and tutors and we thoroughly enjoyed learning how to make good pastry and creating chicken and leek and apple pies, as well as a delicious bread and butter pudding. We then ate our creations in a lovely dining room. The barn where it all happens is stunning. Highly recommended ❤️

Well what a way to spend a December afternoon, with friends and family with a fantastic host. Making pork pies and chutney.

It was absolutely brilliant, everything, the place, the class, the food, the hosts.

Love love loved it. Thankyou.

Booked this as a team build event and knew of Jacqui having done a course many years ago at Hartington's. We set up a event and built in what was required. Jacqui handles the communication with no fuss and all planned in including two people who could not make pork pies. The day duly came and everyone loved the setting and warm welcome received with refreshments and biscuits laid on whilst final setup was been done. 11 of us split into 2 teams making components needed for the pies and individually we be making 2 pies each hand raised and a press one. Jacqui clearly explained methods and why this was preferred or not. With pies in the oven we had a delightful lunch, before embarking on a bake off style challenge making scones with only the ingredients to hand. These were made and cooked. Finally the pies were judged and star bakers awarded. Timings were spot on as the team were from all different areas to travel back. Thanks Jacqui thoroughly enjoyed the day out to a beautiful part of the country.

This was my first course with Penistone Pies and was bought as a Christmas present for me by my sons. Due to the pandemic / lockdown it was delayed 4 months but the hostess was very good with her communication and in rearranging the dates when the restrictions were lifted. Fantastic present and very good value for money including the venue, tuition, recipes, ingredients, lunch and PPE equipment.
This was the first course since lockdown but our hostess went out of her way to keep everyone ‘safe’ and feeling relaxed and comfortable.
Great banter within the group and a lovely country style kitchen in a converted barn. We all made 2 pork pies one by hand and the other on a WW1 hand press with an incredible back story (sorry no spoilers). We also made a pasty with beef and vegetable filling that I have just had hot with coleslaw for lunch and I can’t believe I made it, delicious.
I would recommend for individuals, couples, groups and team building events, the hostess will cater and adapt the course for your needs, very accommodating.
Must mention home made lunch of pork pie, Piccililli, coleslaw, salads, cheeses, bread, ham etc followed by scones, cream and rhubarb and ginger jam then carrot cake a beverages consumed in the packed beamed dining room overlooking the Yorkshire countryside.
Can’t praise this venue enough.

I bought my friend a gift voucher for the cookery school to celebrate a ‘big birthday’ and we recently attended the ‘Taste of Sicily’ workshop. What a brilliant experience it was!
The property is in a beautiful setting and Jacqui is a welcoming and excellent host ably assisted by Lorraine. Jacqui taught us to make fresh cannoli, tagliatelle and tortellini. She is an informative and knowledgeable teacher who makes everyone feel comfortable whatever their level of experience, The other group members were lovely and very supportive of each other, especially when we were using the pasta machine!. After cooking we all enjoyed a delicious lunch trying out our morning’s efforts in the kitchen!
All in all it was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend anyone interested in cookery to give it a try.

A beautiful farmhouse, with the most lovely view, was the setting in Jacqui’s home for a day that was filled with lots of fun, laughter and gorgeous food.
We had a private pie and pasty party with the family to celebrate my brother’s 50th. We all learnt a lot and even my husband who doesn’t cook enjoyed every minute and was very proud of the pies he brought home.
Jacqui was the perfect host and not only taught us all about the pies and her unique pie press, but provided an excellent home made ploughman’s lunch with cakes!
I even bought some pie tins and have had a go at home.
I would recommend this experience to anyone, even those that don’t cook. Give it a go.
