- Ann W15 contributionsVery well worth a visitThe museum is a delight. It is full of interest and very well-laid out. The lady on duty was very friendly and knowledgeable. I learned a lot about the locality. The museum is in a very good location, right in the centre of Ludlow, but not obvious. Just ask someone if you can't see it; we did. From inside there is a beautiful view along Broad Street, which definitely deserves its reputation as one of the loveliest streets in the country.Visited January 2023Written 19 January 2023
- JulieBlakedown, United Kingdom1 contributionA hidden gem of a museumThis is a lovely museum full of very interesting artefacts there are areas of the museum that have interactive phones with so many interesting facts. The ladies there are very knowledgable and extremely friendly. I would definitely recommend a visit, what a bargain at only £1.20 per personThank you for taking the time to review our little museum. - Delta J1 contributionA treasure box of local history and the gateway to all-things LudlowI love visiting Ludlow and never miss the opportunity to return to the Ludlow Museum at the Buttercross. There is so much to see that I find something new every visit. And such charming staff to welcome you and curate the collection. Very child-friendly. The exterior is very photogenic both from the 'front' of the Buttercross where you will find an elevator inside and the 'back' where you can enter via winding stairs beyond the old blue door under the brick archway in the close behind. I'll include my exterior pictures and save the treasures inside for you to discover. The entire area is packed with wonderful shops, restaurants and pubs plus the famous Ludlow Market, Castle and St Laurence church. You'll enjoy the museum's well-documented exhibits and audio records. The views of Ludlow from the upper windows of the Buttercross are excellent. Ludlow museum is a true gateway to the treasures of Ludlow. Please enjoy it as often as you can and share your experiences here. Well worth a visit, not very big but very interesting. We spent about an hour looking and reading all about the displays.

My wife and I were holidaying in Shropshire and decided to visit the Museum whilst visiting the Ludlow Collector's and Flea Market and it was well worth the visit. Although small there is a wealth of local history on display. We passed a very interesting hour learning about Ludlow's past with very helpful input from the lady in charge on the day, and all for the meagre sum of £1.10 each. Don't miss it!

There are two small rooms with insightful displays and the most wonderful view of Broad Street. It won't take you long but is worth the time spent to appreciate the town. Warm welcome too.

My family discovered this museum during a weekend stay at Ludlow and we were all very impressed with the varied and skilfully presented collection of artefacts spanning antiquity to the early 20th century, all of which are tastefully staged under sympathetic lighting with concise descriptions and tasteful graphics. As a keen numismatist, I was particularly spellbound by the hoard of gleaming English Civil War coins in a mint state of preservation. The lady curator is a very knowledgeable and personable host who explained the background of the exhibits and answered a multitude of questions. What a rewarding way to spend a few hours while exploring this picturesque and historic town!

A nice little museum giving a taste of the local history. Currently free entry although they encourage donations. I’d have given more if they accepted debit/credit cards.

Hidden gem, even though it's in the heart of Ludlow. Set in a couple of upstairs rooms overlooking one of the main streets of Ludlow. Gives a very detailed display of the changing town over the centuries: from medieval to the 19th century. A clear explanation of the industries of the town and the buildings that can be seen today, the structure the shape of the town centre. All for free, though donations are warmly received. Well worth a visit.
